Flyers @ Leafs - Oct. 28th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

I know it's early in the season, but given we have some of the same defensive issues as last year, it certainly seems like the team is in need of a shakeup.

Is there something on the boards on that side that?s messing up his sightline?

His positioning on those shots seems to be a little off.

Also, Kadri needs to read that play better. Low percentage chance at picking up the puck where failure means Giroux has a clear path deep into the zone at full speed? Take the man.

Folks, it's bad defense AND bad goaltending.  BOTH.  And when you have both, you get scored on a lot, which is exactly what we've seen.

Edit: Frank beat me to it.

Had some flashbacks to Niewendyk on Lalime.

The thing is, Andersen has a bit of a history of struggling at the beginning of the season. I'm confident he'll get his game together. The team's defence? That I'm not so sure about, as it has a lot more moving parts and needs a greater number of players to get on board.

Early season is when system adjustments are happening (developing rapport with defensemen too). It?s also when goalies try out improvements to their mechanics or techniques or selections. Those either get better or get switched back to standard. Either way, it?s more thinking time required and less playing on instinct.

To end that period Philly had possession of the puck/were in puck battles with three forwards on two leafs dmen and the three Leafs forwards were high with Kadri being highest, this is what people are talking about when they say they are cheating for offense.

It's clearly part of their system to exit quickly as soon as they have possession, but this is leading to forwards misreading the play too often and leaving because they assume the play is about to go on offense.

On the occasion that the Leafs dmen do have control, the dmen are having to make huge stretch passes that can be picked up by tight neutral zone play/aggressive pinching by the opposition dmen.

They need to be more structured, make sure they are getting farther down the wall and center of the ice until they have real possession, this is what Babs means when he talks about guys needing to stop and start instead of just swinging through the zone trying to cheat.

Friedman publicly endorsing Igor Ozhiganov to the Leafs next season rumours.

Doesn't look like he is having a great year.  2 points in 18 games playing on a team with ex-Leaf Marchenko (6 points in 15 games).

Bozak has been awful again, this is not a recording.

I seriously hope the media/fans don't ruin Freddie by giving him the Larry Murphy treatment, I still have faith in him.
