Anyway, watch the replay, he kneed him in the head, no doubt about it. Nothing about the collision necessitated that, diven at or not.

I watched the replay. There's nothing there to penalize.

I'm shocked! Shocked! I thought for sure you'd watch the replay and totally agree with me! :)

Well you still haven't said what penalty was actually committed. So there's not much to agree with.

Like the connection between Connolly and Kessel. I hope that continues to grow.

YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Sure, in slow motion it looks like a knee to the head. Watch again at regular speed and tell me how that is anything other than Gus jumping out and the collision that followed.

Fair enough, but I've seen enough players jump over enough goalies to know it would not have taken supreme effort to avoid knocking Gus's block off. He could have made an adjustment as simple as putting his weight on his left knee. This is not a one in a million occurance, players fall over each other without kneeing each other in the head all the time. That knee was meant for Gus's head.

Goaltender interference.

Here's the rule

I'm still not seeing it

The upcoming 3 game road trip is against Ottawa, NJ and Columbus.

Obviously they can't take anyone lightly (especially not Ottawa), but anything less than 4 of 6 points will be mildly disappointing in my eyes.

However, incidental contact will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such unnecessary contact.

I guess that's where we disagree, I think he could have jumped him.

Anyway, I didn't mean to spend all night discussing it. :) Leafs win, that's what matters!

I think most people would disagree with the idea that jumping over another player constitutes a reasonable effort to avoid contact.

Whats with the Gus-STAVVSON pronunciation

It really is Goose-Stuff-Son.

I don't really think Greg Brady is an authority on anything Leafs-related, but he did post a couple of tweets on the subject:

The story as to why Cole arbitrarily decides to call Gustavsson "Goose-tav-sun" is ridiculously funny. Have told before, will again Monday.

Yes. Totally & completely. It drives everyone associated w/ the Leafs MAD! RT @Framer99 Are you sure Cole is wrong?

Really? Seems to me if he jumped over him, he would have avoided contact. Like I said, it happens all the time, jumping over a goalie is NOT an exceptional occurance.
