Ugh Leafs didn't play well but that 3rd goal was bad.

I've got to see that one again, at the time I thought it hit the dmans stick, could be wrong and it sure did look/smell bad.

Boo, kind of a meh effort overall.

Liles mishandled the puck at a pretty crucial time there.

When it bounced over his stick?  Not much you can do with a pass that hard. (If that's what you're referring to)  Just hope it doesn't hop.
Was it a bounce? Maybe not as bad as I thought then.

Yes, it bounced and was coming fairly quickly. There were a number of funny hops with the puck tonight - particularly in the first.

I thought it did as well but it was from far enough out, he should have had it.

On Greening's goal, that was such a perfect shot, I think it goes in 99.999% of the time. On Neil's goal, he had zero chance on a tip that sent it sideways around his body.

But the soft goal really cost them and he can't be giving up many of those if he wants to be a starter. Otherwise, I thought he played pretty well.

One of those games where the bounces didn't go the Leafs way.

No big deal, on to the next one!

I agree. I counted about three stops by Lehner on the replay that he was unbelievably lucky on. Did you see the one where it goes right between his legs and he nearly kicks it in? I think it's how you come back from a game like this that really speaks about the team. The Pens may have taken a lot out of the team as well - not exactly the easiest team to play the night before on a back to back.

At the same time you still hope your goaltender can hold the fort and keep the game even. Gus couldn't quite do that tonight.

Now let's go out and win the next two. NJ game because it's a conference game, and CBJ because they're brutal despite their win tonight.

I blame Wilson for this game. The Leafs were 7-2-1 and playing back to back. There was NO NEED to ride Gustavsson so hard considering the team was playing well. I said before the game even began i'm not a fan of goalies playing back to back. Had Scrivens gotten the start the team might have also been more focused to try and win for his first game. Instead they were dopey for most of the night.  Resting on their laurels after beating the Pens.

Stupid stupid move.

True, the difference is so small but he's not shown enough so far to earn a starters spot, he's a fine back up right now. The team seemed to find some energy sporadically but were generally kinda flat.

Well the team didn't play well and who knows how Scrivens would have handled that and the sens. I can't see how starting a hot goalie is really a mistake.

I think Franson will get in the next game over Komisarek or Schenn.

Schenn looks awful so far this year, but Komisarek still looks bad to me.  He had a few games where he looked much better but he can't handle the puck in any capacity.  His passes are in players feet, his clearing attempts are brutal.  He turns his back and fires weak backhanders up the boards without looking from behind the net.  He hits guys, but also gets walked around on the outside a lot.

The Leafs lost the face off battle as well, 36 to 19.

Its quite a change from years past when the Sens couldn't win a faceoff to save their lives.  I remember hoping we'd sign Yanic Perrault when he was well past his prime, just so we'd have someone that could win an important faceoff once in a while.

Spezza's been improving ever since he got some tips from his buddy Jarret Stoll.  Konopka's been a great faceoff guy for a while, and I've read he's been teaching the others.

I'm surprised (in a good way) that the team's record is as good as it is, because lately they've been playing pretty lukewarm and a bunch of guys are playing like passengers.

Great last-minute save by Lehner on Kulemin.  If not, it could have been a tie, right there.

Not-so-great save attempt by Gustavvson on call-up Daugavins' goal.  If not, the game would still have been tied.

Big difference.  Two outcomes.  One winner.  ???
