Why Kulemin? The most snakebit guy on the whole team! Fire Wilson!

Frattin is even more snakebit and he scored in his only shootout attempt.

Wasn't that one of the first few games of the year? He wasn't snakebit then.. I would have used Komi before I used Kulemin.

He had had a number of chances in the games up to that point without putting one in.  I am pretty sure it was commented on at the time.

I was gonna say Kessel hadn't scored on a breakaway or shootout attempt this year even with his league-leading 13 goals.  But I'm wrong, I just remembered that nice shootout goal against the blues.  I blame the tv, I'm pretty sure it said he was 0 for 1 this year on shootout attempts before he went today.

No, he was snakebit at the time. That's actually why Wilson used him: To help get his confidence back and give Frattin a chance to score a goal. Hasn't really translated unfortunately.

It was the 5th game of the year and the Leafs were 3-1 going in.. a player who is essentially a rookie in the NHL not scoring in the first 5 games is not snakebitten.. Kulemin having 2 goals through 18 games is some serious struggling.

But a shootout really has no bearing on your in-game play, or vice versa.  It is a skills competition where you're either skilled at it or not.  Historically, Kulemin has been.

I gave you the reasoning paraphrased from Wilson actually said. You can quibble over what snake bitten is and isn't but that was the reasoning.

Kulemin is definitely a skilled player and he could use a confidence boost.. just sayin I wouldn't have put him in. This could have been a huge win for the Leafs! Instead it's another night of dissapointment..

If both MacArthur and Grabovski are out then I guess we'll see Kadri in Nashville?

I think so. I wonder if Colborne gets a call up this year.

Connolly might be back so they might not even call someone up and just insert Rosehill or Orr on the 4th line.

Colborne has yet to return to the Marlies line-up after suffering a lower-body injury. So that injury will probably prevent a call-up.

Bah.  A g/d ice/snow front knocked out the internet here with 5 to go in the game.  >:(  But I'm glad I didn't have to look at the freaking shootout.

Pretty good comeback to get a point, I guess.

@TSNScottyMac Scott MacArthur
Ron Wilson: "Tim Connolly's told us he'll play on Thursday." Interesting way to phrase that comment. #Leafs #Predators #NHL

* Heavy sigh * I really need to find a way to not let loses bother me as much as they do.  :-\ * (more of a criticism of myself than the Leafs.)

I heard Wilson say that. I think he's playing around with reading too much into it. There is only so much the medical tests can tell the team doctors. It eventually has to come down to how the player is feeling.

The media is increasingly annoying me on these injury issues with the Leafs. To me, it's getting childish and silly (if it hasn't been since before Yushkevich's blood clot or Nolan's back).

I missed MacArthur's injury. Grabbo's troubled me because it may have been a twisted knee. If it was his ankle, that isn't much better. Hopefully, we luck out and he's ok.

The encouraging thing about Grabovski is that he was at least able to put weight on it afterwards. That could be a sign that the injury isn't severe - or, at least, not as severe as it could have been.

Maybe I can help get you back on the "ban wagon".  :)

Aside from some weak goaltending by Scrivens in the first period, I thought they played a pretty darn good game.

Phoenix typically doesn't make a lot of mistakes but the Leafs didn't quit, didn't make a ton of mistakes themselves and they caused some scoring chances that allowed them to tie it up and nearly win it.

In spite of the early goaltending, they almost overcame it.

Maybe that's the glass is half full. But they did that against a pretty disciplined, well coached hockey team who executes pretty well.

It could have been much worse compared to their recent games at the ACC. Baby steps.

If they can keep playing like that and get some good nights out of their goalies, they won't fall much if at all in the standings. That's still a big IF but I'll take it tonight.
