At least we have our own first round pick this time... Tank Nation 2.0?

We're not even below .500!

.500 doesn't make the playoffs anymore by a long shot.  We're 2 pts away from falling out of the playoff spots.  After the start that we had to be below 8th after less than 25 games will be embarrassing.

If you look at the standings in a vacuum and don't take the circumstances of why they're in this position into account.  Sure, not all of it is due to injuries, there have been some stinkers, but they've also been killed by some unfortunate circumstances as well.  Put the level of goaltending we've had since game 5 or whatever, on any other team in the league, with a similar number of regulars out, and I have no doubt they would be struggling too.

So when will the goaltending improve?  Given the answer to that, can you understand why it's hard to be optimistic?

Blame it on whatever you want, excuses won't win games.

The injuries are gonna be just too much to handle.

Grabovski: 2-3 weeks
Armstrong: 3 weeks
MacArthur: Who knows
Reimer: Who knows, probably a while yet, haven't even heard news of him practicing
Then add Lombardi and Komisarek to that list, probably Connolly soon enough. Shut down Phil and the Leafs are done.

What scares me is we haven't even played Buffalo yet!

Those are 6 very difficult games for us regardless of how we are playing at the time.

We would be lucky to come away with 6 points in those 6 games.

3-2-1 is pretty much what you have to be every 6 games to make the playoffs. It's no longer looking all that promising.

I think its already embarrassing, we are about to be passed by ottawa, soon to be followed by montreal potentially. I wish I shared the optimism of some of the other posters, but I am really worried and frustrated.

I'm not trying to say excuses will win games, just trying to be realistic about why they're in this position - predicting the doom of the team won't win or lose them games either, and it won't make me feel better to do so.

I can't predict what will happen, who knows, but I'm not throwing my fan towel in on the team.

We're not even below .500!

Yet.

.579
.... which sadly drops us to 19th in pts win% (8th in conference)

It doesn't seem that long ago that they were #2 in that stat.

So they've largely burnt the good start.

Hopefully, they can tread water well enough through the tough upcoming schedule to hang on until they can get healthier and not get too far out of it.

I do hope that whoever had the brilliant idea to count down to #1 that Saturday night has been drawn and quartered.

I'm sure my perspective is biased but it seems like only the Leafs can put your nuts on a pedestal and then stomp on them like this

I mean to have the best goalie you've had in years in your more promising season in years get injured 5 games in...comes out that he has had 'several' concussions...month later and he isn't even working out...

To finally have a decent 1st line only to have the 2nd line that was good last year start slow and then literally fall apart...

To sign a promising young shut-down guy like Schenn to a big contract which immediately converts him into a pylon... (pylonitis seems to be a common afflection among d-men who sign big contracts here)

Please. It's not like the sens are going to pass the Leafs tonight. They might never actually do it. The Leafs aren't "about to be passed" by anyone.

No doubt it is definitely frustrating, and it's easy as a fan to feel 'woe is me' sometimes, but I can in all honesty say that, despite struggles of late, and in seasons of late, every Leafs game I still look forward to and excited for.  It's never going to be easy to watch the team lose, but such is life.

Oh yeah add to my list

Play "the best game of the season"....score 1 goal because the other team has competent goaltending...other team gets 1 goal on their 1st shot

I think that was the Boston game. I felt a touch embarrassed by that scoreboard video long before the game got out of hand - as I was watching it. It was inevitable some reality had to set in.

Leafs lose - everyone's about to pass us.

Montreal loses - they're about to pass the Leafs.

Ok, I will state it in terms of my opinion: given the recent records of the three teams and our additional injuries incurred tonight I believe it is likely and imminent that we will be behind our two biggest rivals.

Man no kidding 1-4-1 since then while we slide down the standings.

Someone was asking who pissed off the hockey gods look no further.  I know it's superstition but what a stupid thing to do anyways.
