Price just slashed Kadri in the face when he was down. How is that not an ejection from the game?

It was a love tap, and he got a penalty for it. Dumb thing to do, but, not ejection worthy.

I don't care what it was, it was a stick to the head and they shouldn't let him do it. It sets president IMO.

EDIT: I'll expand on that. It was deliberate and Kadri was in a vulnerable position and the league should review it.

Relative to maccarthur's infraction, I agree.  It was far more intentional and no less impactful.

Right, but no one on the broadcast said "Damn! Carey Price's SV% is horrendous. Actually... it's worse than Gustavsson's, the guy we've been railing on all game!"

They weren't exactly praising Price, either.

No, but they were far more forgiving. All that's etched in my mind after the games is "Wow, Gus is sloppy" and "Wow, Price is making great saves!" or no real criticism of Price after any of the goals. He wasn't exactly Gus' foil tonight that, I think, the broadcasters made it seem simply through the lack of criticism.

Part of it is that Price showed that he could be a top-5 goalie last year over an entire season and pull his team in to the playoffs.  Gus has yet to show over a significant stretch that he is a decent NHL backup, let alone a starter, let alone an above average starter.

All the more reason for the broadcasters to be a little more balanced in their criticism and their praise.

I don't get the negative talk about Kadri. Sure he made a couple of mistakes tonight but he wasn't alone. He played both ends of the ice and came close to scoring twice. Give him a break already.

Do you know how long the greater part of Canada has been painting that sign?

Gustavvson stopped 15 of the 18 shots he faced, filling in for Reimer.  On some goals, he had no chance, on others, well, the Monster still needs to be in playing form.  I'm certain he will get there if he plays more and gets the proper support from his d-men, whatever proper support actually means in the Leafian vernacular.

Grabovski's 'twist' of a goal was sweet!  Good to see MacArthur-Grabo line be productive again.  They need to take the emphasis off of Kessel, in terms of goal production, so as to create more of a balanced attack.

Ah....doesn't it feel good to be No. 1  in the standings!!  ;D

Missed the entire game but thankful the Leafs were able to win. Hate giving the Habs a point, but at least it wasn't 2.

Hope Reimer is ok :-(

Grabovski should have a great year this year.  I think I predicted him for a drop off in another thread but I think last year might have been just the beginning.

I thought alot of our D played well on the offence side tonight.  Phaneuf, Liles, Gardiner, and Gunnarson all looking good.

Kulemin will surprise everyone yet. Then we'll get back that Grab/Kul line threat.

It would be nice to see that line off to a faster start, but I keep hearing that they were slow out of the gate last year as well. Hopefully it doesn't translate to losses due to lack of immediate offense.

I rememebr that slow start too. Seems the work horses take longer to warm up, but then they go like a train.

O CANADA

The Leafs enter Saturday?s game in Montreal undefeated in their first four against Canadian-based teams (4-0). The most recent time that had happened was the season Toronto won its last Cup, starting 3-0-1 against the Habs in 1966-67.

:o :o :o  (j/k)

The 1-4-2 Habs are apparently off to their worst start in 70 years - occupying the basement in the East. They've had a fairly similar schedule (slightly tougher) to the Leafs. The difference being they played the Sabres & Pens while the Leafs played the Bruins and Sens.

In fairness, they've had a number of injuries (to their D in particular). But they're not that strong of a team when healthy in my opinion that they can crawl out of a deep hole. Markov, Campoli and Spacek won?t be back any time soon. If they continue their slide, this club could be buried for the playoffs by the end of the month.

That's great news, keep up the good work Habs. 3rd period Leafs have been the most impressive so far. 3 periods of that and we'd
be entertaining in the POs.

Maybe it's a typical slow start. But I'm not expecting as much from them this season. After what they did last season, opponents can't ignore them. They'll be out against opponents top D a little more than they were last year.

If Kessel's line continue's to roll that will help but Kessel's line will probably get the premier ice time which may nibble a few points.

The big thing for me, and we saw it in preseason in my opinion, is that generally, that line looked like it was ready to continue more or less where it left off. With Kessel's line going, that's big because both of those lines won't be facing the top opponents all night.

To Wilson's credit, he's letting them go more than attempting the stifling defence that killed their offence to start the season last year. I think that's where the heart of the talent on this roster lies. So that will help their pts totals some as well.

I'm still a little mystified at that charging call against Brown ( on Pk ). It's not a big deal ( and please don't quote the letter because the way it reads almost anything could be a charge ) but it didn't seem overly violent compared to average nhl checking fare.

Really looking forward to the next several Leaf games here.

When is the last time you heard yourself say that? lol Is a good time in Leaf land.

lol - I'm anxious for the smoke & mirrors show to break / dissipate. That Bruins game was pretty telling about how they are going to stack up against the better teams in the league IMO.

Once whatever you're smoking dissipates, you'll see that Bruins game won't be indicative.

So the Leafs are better than the sens, got it.
