It doesn't really bother me, I just don't get it. Honestly, I'm getting used to not giving a rat's ass about the Leafs at all at this time of year. That bothers me more than fans cheering the team on.

The amount of complaining you've put forth about other fans cheering seems to disagree with you. And, really, it's pretty simple - in the arena, there's an atmosphere that leads to cheering for the team, regardless of what may be in their best interests or what the individual fans may want. It's pretty simple sociology/psychology.

The amount of complaining? I said a few time that I didn't get why the fans cheer.

That's a lot of complaining.

And higher pick doesn't always mean better player, say the Miami heat lost a few more games in 2002-2003 and ended up drafting at 2 instead of 5, good chance they end up with Darko Milicic instead of Dwayne Wade.

Or in the Schenn Draft, we got Schenn at 5, Buffalo got Myers at 12 and Ottawa got Karlsson  at 15.

It's not really as cut and dry as if we lose games we'll definitley get a better player in the draft.

Cheering these goals is cheering for points that are hurting our future. The same thing as a kid that's doing crack in front of you.

Ok, so its not the same as cheering for a kid to get over a crack habit, we agree then.

Yeah, it is. You're cheering for the Leafs to get over their not winning a cup habit when winning now hurts their chances to win a cup.

In your analogy:

winning now = doing crack
losing now = getting over the crack habit

so cheering for winning now is like cheering for doing crack..

my head hurts

No, it's not a guarantee at all but wouldn't you feel better going in to this year's draft with a top 5 pick to use in whatever way we want than not going in with that?

Yeah, because cheering on what you know someone shouldn't do is hard to understand.

Good luck with life.

You obviously have trouble with creating analogies, it's okay, that can get tricky.

So you're watching to cheer against the Leafs? Now that's something I don't get. Why not just stop watching if it brings you such mental angst? Why do you go outta yer way to stress yourself out. Only 6 more months 'til pre-season donchya know!

Exactly..the main thing is to have a 1st round pick and not trade it off.

Ok..........let me slow it down for you.

Your kid..............knowing that they could do more with their life, smokes crack.

They stop for a bit of the year...........and they're doing great. You think they've finally snapped the old 7 year habit.

Then they go back into it, and smoke more so bad that it looks like they aren't any better off than they were before you spent a lot of money on the drug counsellor that you were sure would change things.

Then he himself says.........he hasn't seen anything like the slide your kid had.

Then like your kid does every year, he or she says.......I'm going to put the pipe down and really mean it this time.

They show promise and you cheer them on knowing that doing that isn't doing a damn thing for what's hurting them and yet think...........next year is going to be better..........with delusion and magic.

Same thing happens next year and the year after.

Yeah, the analogy is way off.

What mental angst? I think the words I put on a screen do more for your mental state than what I watch on tv.

While that's completely accurate I would still rather have my choice of what prospect to pick as a future building block, rather than let other teams get their first choice.

I've been a fan for 40 years so I know how you should cheer and when you should.

Remember - fan for 40 years.

Funny, me as well. I can remember collecting Leafs hockey cards 40 years ago.

Typing on the forum means you don't want the Leafs to draft high, because you are showing an interest in the team.  Fanatic, you are a bad fan.

Probably because it's irritating to listen to fellow fans cheer for the very outcome that will actually hurt the team's future.

It's irritating to listen to people tell me it's irritating to enjoy watching my team win or score goals.
