Marlies v Abbotsford is on right now: http://www.atdhenet.tv/52558/watch-toronto-marlies-vs-abbotsford-heat

Thanks for the post. I should be able to tune into the second before bed. How'd the first look?

Marlies had 3 PP's and couldn't convert.  Was kind of a 'meh' period for both teams - although I thought Kadri looked good whenever he had the puck.  Gardiner almost seems to overthink it when he's on the point, on the PP especially, holding onto it a bit too long.  Still looks poised though.

So a lot like the second. 0 for 6 now on the PP, that's a little worrisome especially how the PP struggled in the playoffs. With the guys on the roster it should be better than that. Maybe it's a coaching issue.

Went to the game last night and am going tonight as well. Really poor
representation by the Leaf fans. The building was barely 1/3 full and most were Heat fans.

Marlies dominated most of the first period but no goals (obviously). We certainly looked the stronger team most of the night but, being a Leaf fan you knew it was coming and the Heat score a shorty and while I was looking down, score the 2nd from the faceoff at centre ice....never even heard of that before nor seen it. Of course I didn't see this one either.... It was too bad as Scrivens actually played a good game and had made a few jaw-dropping saves earlier. Gardiner looked heads and tails above the rest but seemed a bit anxious with the puck some times. If he's working on his offense in the AHL it sure shows as he pinches and goes deep often. Kadri was by far the most gifted offensively and was hooked on a beauty effort that would have been a goal. Still trying the one-on-three moves but can he handle the puck. As far as the rest go Komarov was noticable. Colbourne was OK but did little. The rest were a collective "meh". Although they really did take the play to the Heat we're not very good around the net.

Hopefully tonight is better. Being as it's $1 hot dog and $2 beer night I suspect it will be... ;)

You're complaining about the amount of Leafs fans at a Marlies game in Abbotsford BC? And also commenting in surprise that most of the fans were fans of the home team?

Marlies are down 2-1 early in the 2nd. Abbott and Ross drew into the line-up for the first time this season. Acton and Deschamps are sitting. Owuya gets his first start of the season.

The Heat scored to make it 3-1 but Ranger scored a shorthanded goal for his first as a Marlie to bring Toronto to within two. D'Amigo was taken into the boards right before the goal and looked a little shaken up afterward.

Komarov's been very impressive in the pest role so far this season, and he got into his first fight this season. Wasn't much of a scrap though.

That 4th goal seemed pretty clearly goalie interference - or at least as clear as AHL live can be and without seeing a replay.

I dunno, I thought it was pretty obvious the Marlie defencemen pushed the Heat player into Owuya.

Toronto drops another one, 4-2 this time. They had some good pressure in the final 4 minutes or so, including a Colborne wraparound that was very close, but couldn't finish.

Well when Rogers Arena is 50% or more in Leaf fans I would think you'd get a least a couple of thousand Leaf fans to see the Marlies - and the Heat only draw about 2000-2500 as many here are anti-Flames....

Ahh, good to know.  I will withdraw my upset at the refs.

I wouldn't... ;) I was at the game and the ref lost a bit of control. Tossed
Fraser for some reason. The amount of replays at the game was and is sorely lacking. Don't know why - may be a financial issue.

In Vancouver I could see it, but I'm sure not many would make the trek to Abbotsford for AHL, other than some die-hards.

Awesome that you went to both games, though.

To my liking the Marleis are loosing too many games, they may easily dig themselves a pretty big hole to climb up.

Abbotsford is only 30 min away from Vancouver - unless you're thinking
of absolute downtown and then you'd add another 10 min tops. It's too bad. If it was the home to Vancouver's farm team they'd pull in 4-5,000
a game. The Flames also suckered the city of Abottsford into covering
team losses for the 10 year (I think) lease. Last year the taxpayers had to cough up over $2M IIRC. They need 4000 apparently to break even and they only drew 4655 with the Marlies and $1 hotdogs and $2 beer. I had 2 dogs for $2 and a water for $3.50...!! Should have had the beer!

But I thought Dallas Eakins was Jesus?

Scrivens gets the start tonight. As mentioned elsewhere, his job as starting goalie is now in question so he'll have to come up big if he wants to start the next one.

For people like me who are can only rely on internet radio due to corporate video blocks Radio: News Talk 1070 KNTH http://www.1070knth.com/

Marlies came back from being down 4-2 after 2 to win 6-4.  Scrivens didn't look very good through 2, but the team bailed him out.  Couple goals for Ashton, and one for Komarov as well.
