Marlies up 3-0 with 6 minutes left in the first.

Marlies playing quite well so far.

Who would have thought that Komarov would be the leading scorer? He scored again today.

4 assists for Kadri too.  10 pts in his last 4.

And back overall at PPG pace.  He was probably the best Marlie even when he wasn't scoring.  I really want to see him on a line with some talented players.  I really felt like he was hurt a bit in his call-up when he was playing with Lombardi/Connolly when both guys were fumbling some of his passes.

I expect the goals to start going in for him too - he's at something like a 2% SH, so he's been unlucky so far and he should start seeing some shots go in.

He was among his teams top scorers in the KHL the last couple of years so it's not too surprising to see that offensive success translate to the AHL. It's whether or not he can put up points in the NHL while still playing his pest game that's the question.

He looked very good at times, but still makes several bad decisions a game that will keep him playing with 3rd liners in the NHL.

The Marlies need a tough guy. Games like that get ugly and meatballs like Sortini last night start trying to take on anyone and everyone.  Every AHL team has a meatball or two... not safe to live without one.

The Marlies have two more games this weekend. May as well continue using this thread for those ones. They return to Toronto for a rematch against Hamilton at 3pm. Frattin will not play tomorrow as Eakins doesn't want him playing 3-in-3. Expect a few more guys rotating in and out of the lineup for the next two games. Even ignoring his poor performace tonight, it's unlikely Scrivens starts. I'd expect Owuya on Saturday and Rynnas on Sunday.

KyleTheReporter says it's Scrivens again today.

Interesting way to go. Must have been a challenge of some sort from Eakins. And it looks like it's working. I'm not watching this one but 3-0 in the 3rd for the Marlies.

For anybody who wanted to catch the 3rd period of todays game: http://atdhenet.tv/52504/watch-abbotsford-heat-vs-toronto-marlies

5-0 final.  5 different scorers including Frattin with his 3rd goal in his second game back from injury.

Corn, has Devane been playing?  I haven't seen him in the box scores....

Devane and Crescenzi have been assigned to San Francisco of the ECHL.

Thanks, Rob.

I was watching some of the fights from the Bulldogs - Marlies game and I think Corn is being way too genrous in calling Stortini a meatball.  He's an idiot.  Kenny Ryan delivers a clean, but hard, bodycheck and Stortini jumps him and starts pounding away as Ryan is on the gorund covering up.  I'm not certain that the NHL will play this year, or that Stortini will make a team, but I would look forward to him getting his comeuppins from one of the heavyweights of the League.

And not to derail this thread, but why players continue to jump in after a clean hit is delivered is beyond me.

Stortini is regularly a punching bag for any of the other tough guys. He would only get away with this when no enforcer is dressed.

It blows my mind as well, but it's the way this league(NHL or AHL) has gone in recent years as the speed has increased and the need for actual 'tough guys' has diminished. It is the new way that players are protected as opposed to two tough guys dropping 'em.

As for Stortini, he played here in his JR days. I don't recall him being that much of an idiot. Perhaps it's a guy just grasping to keep a job in the game.
