Fair. Kessel does need to stop with the two handers.

I agree on both counts, fair and he needs to stop.

I think Kessel got a bit lucky with that slap on the wrist. Good thing though.  :)

I'm not sure what has possessed him to be so slash happy the last couple of games, and would like to know, but hopefully he'll have the good sense to cut it out during his final year with the Leafs if he wants it to go well.

If a 270lb gorilla came after me...I would use anything to defend myself.
What do you think the reach would be on 6'8" man...not to mention the force at which a man that size would be applied? Kessel would be dummied. Broken orbital bone to the face? A lot of potential things can wrong with the difference in size.
This is B.S.!

Not that this means anything but I thought it was funny.

I just passed the Leafs dressing room and I swear I heard Phil Kessel laughing his head off

I'm a little baffled that this is worth any suspension but a vicious slash by taylor hall last year to a defenseless player in the back of the legs...when he double pumped (thought about it first) wasn't worth a penalty or a suspension.

I specifically remember shanahan saying it was bad and should have been a penalty but nothing more.

I actually think that halls was more likely to injure than kessels...but its just the preseason so I'm not that ticked.

I think Kessel's second slash while Scott was wrestling Ashton and Brennan was the thing that got him in trouble.

After seeing the replay over and over, one thing I give Kessel credit for (I'm sure some will disagree) is that Kessel slashed Scott's ankle/shin.  Whether he consciously did it or not, he really resisted the temptation of hacking Scott higher.

I'm not so sure slashing (or spearing)is the best way to go about things, but I do like the emotion Kessel is showing.  He's mean.  >:(
