I am a big fan of James, but I can?t deny that Bernier is (seems to be) a real deal. Time will tell, making assumption based on one game would be foolish, but if this trend continues Bernier will claim that No.1 job.
On Saturday, I would start James based on his record against Turds. Next game I would go with Jonathan. Let?s see how they do and let?s go from there.
I suppose the ideal scenario leading up to the trade deadline would have both goalies at the top of their games, and we keep the best and trade away the other. The cap space could be a big issue though. (in what we could take back in a trade)
Not sure about that. Just hypotheticaly let?s say that Bernier is about to be the better one at the trade deadline. I am not sure I would rush with trading James away. First you need more than decent back-up in the playoffs and secondly Bernier can pull Steve Mason miracle season followed by horrible one. By trading James away the Leafs could easily find themselves in square one. Although resigning James to projected back-up role could be difficult, if he can be No.1 elsewhere.
