Idiocracy

So Pennsylvania is just not counting ballots today in Allegheny county for reasons.  I don't understand what more important jobs you have than counting ballots.  They are taking an "administrative day".

Thread explaining why this is happened, and why it isn't something to get upset about:

Rangers seemed to have stepped in here. Final straw for them was likely a tweet where he wrote "What happened to "COVID-19" the last 48 hours".

pffft, let me know when it hits 49.995%

Sorry, missed that one. 49.98% now.

Latest I saw was 50%.  :-\

NYT says 50.0% but they're rounding up to 1 decimal. It's actually 49.98% with their numbers. Considering the circumstances here, they should really be displaying 2 decimal points.

David Perdue - 2,437,380 - 49.997%
John Ossof - 2,326,892
Shane Hazel - 112,668
Write In - 967

Last update with 97% of the ballots in.  Unless Trump really blows things apart if/when he loses I don't view that race all that favourably for the Democrats.  The Libertarian votes would lean more Republican than Democrat and the Dems usually suck at mid-season election turnout.

Really depends on what the turnout would be I guess. Both Perdue and Loeffler don't seem particularly popular so despite their good numbers here you gotta think they're vulnerable. If their supporters mostly showed up to vote because Trump was also on the ballot they might not be as motivated come January.

I guess although the Republicans have always been great at getting voter turnout in the face of the fear of Democrats.  If Biden wins that will be a big argument for them needing the Senate to keep AOC from stealing your kids socks.

Yeah. Neither party is especially good at getting voters out for mid-cycle elections. Republicans just tend to be less bad than the Democrats. That being said, Democratic voters in GA have been coming out in bigger numbers than we've seen...ever. The last time a Democrat came anywhere near 50% in a presidential election was Jimmy Carter in 1980. If they can keep up that enthusiasm, and if the Republicans are still sulking in January (which is quite possible), they could take both. It's unlikely, but not impossible.

Just put Stacey Abrams on TV in Georgia every day until January.

Maybe just put her in the White House.

I'd be good with her in that role.  She seems great.  I don't know that putting a Black Female as the party nominee is a great approach to winning though until we have more of an age shift in the US.

Never forget that on top of all the racist and other bad stuff Trump is just a genuinely, genuinely dumb man.
