I very briefly worked for a place where all of the employees knew it was going out of business and each payday it was anyone's guess if we'd get paid on time, or the correct amount, or eventually at all.

Fun to think that this is effectively the situation going on with the US government right now.

I'm headed to Phoenix tomorrow for the Rumble and I have no idea what to expect at the airport.  At least they clear you for customs at Pearson now, but who knows what's happening with the air traffic management right now.

I travelled from Phoenix a few days ago and it was business as usual. And it's over now.

Unless everyone's been paid right this second, it ain't over.

Additionally, the UVA Men's NCAA Basketball champions will be declining the invitiation en masse.

I suppose what with Holtby and other Caps making this decision as well as most black players on the Superbowl and NCAA Football champs doing this as well as the NBA champs not even considering going this is old hat at this point but it's still so god damn weird. The idea that turning down an invitation to the White House is essentially the norm at this point, and that doing so is actually justified unlike in the case of Tim Thomas, is one of the more boggling signs of just how far things have deteriorated.

I just genuinely don't see how anyone could even be passingly familiar with the idea of conservatism as a political philosophy and support what is being done in its name.
