I'm just saying as we get better the value of our spare parts goes up up up. kom and Lyles will fetch a good price to a team hurting, and we have lots of young defence comming up.

At best, Komisarek's value goes from untradable to tradable. As for Liles, if he doesn't get back into the lineup soon, his value will start to drop, not go up, and, even best case scenario there right now is a 2nd round pick.

Still picks and prospects are better then them sitting in the press box. Its better then before when, we were a team looking for these guys. I think guys like this keep us stocked and help us grow that center we need. I still think Joe.C will be that guy. and Connely will bring in some goodies soon as well.

Lyles? C'mon dude, at least try.

Lyles would get a second from a team hurting on defence. our defence is strong, and the guys not getting in the lineup, still have value. and I can argue this untill I am blue in the face, but when it comes time to deal you will see.

I meant the spelling of his name. It's Liles.

Oh is it. Oooops, sorry teach. is this better, Liles. anyways I'm sure you get my point.  ;D

The spare parts on D, like Fraser, Kostka, Holzer are valuable to us in that they can play over the guys with big contracts like Liles and Komi and do a better job to boot.  The former are worth more to us then what they would fetch on the trade market and the latter have contracts that will prevent them from being moved most likely.  Komi will be bought out at seasons end and if for some reason Liles gets back in the lineup due to injury he may get you a 2nd on a desperate team at the deadline but none of the above will get you a centre better than what we already have.

they will bring picks and prospects, and this will bring down the cap to open the door for any possable big moves. while at the same time keeping the farm stocked.

You would get hung up on a lot if you were a GM :).  Stay positive though bros, don't ever change.

This is the turning point from a crap team to a good team, and keeping the farm stocked is a big part of it.

I believed it when we stood our ground and passed on any deal for an over priced Goalie from Van. As well when we droped players no matter how much they earn, and put kids in there place, these are moves of a team falling into place. next we will start selling our garbage high. the respect of this team is on its way back.

I think you genuinely believe this stuff, I'll give you that much.

Komisarek is not fetching anything in a trade. He makes more than double what he's worth and that's no secret.

In 158 games as a Leaf we can probably count on both hands how many good games he had. Another thing that gets overlooked with him (because we are too busy discussing how bad he is) is that he hasn't been able to stay healthy over the last 5 seasons.

If this were the last year of his contract, you might get some idiot GM to bite on a 5th or 6th round pick. But with another year left at 4.5M, nobody is touching him.

As for Connolly, he's played 12 playoff games over the last 6 years and had a whopping 3 points. He also has one of the lengthiest injury reports in the league. Nobody is picking this guy up for a playoff push.

Connolly will get traded at the deadline.  His contract is over at the end of the year, so he has some value as a depth centre for the playoffs.  We will likely get a low draft pick for him.
As for Komi, he will likely be bought out at the years end.  Burke was good at trading back contracts like with Jason Blake or Toskola.  But Burke isn't here anymore so Komi likely gets bought out.

I'll be happy with any picks or prospects for them, the best part will be the money that gets Freed up.

One of the most positive, noticeable differences with this Carlyle-run team is that a 1-goal deficit doesn't feel insurmountable and a 2-goal lead is pretty safe.

Can't wait to see how good the Leafs will be when we get Lupul back, as well as Fratten, and Reimer.

Hope its in time for Boston, I want to beat that team more then any.

I had commented earlier in this thread that Grobavski's play has been underwhelming this year.  I suppose I should have been more patient, because the last 2-3 games his play has dramatically improved.  Last night, he was positively flying, forecheck was strong, lost of puck possession and control, and chances being generated.  He's a unique, dynamic player and an integral part of of success this team will have.

He seems to have found his confidence again after getting that monkey off his back a few games ago.

So this week we have NJ,OTT,BOS and Pitt. It looks like a big big test to me. WE will get a loss in these four games, but I hope it comes in OT. Before this season a week like this would have 0-4 written all over it. but now, going in I would say we can go 3-1 and I wouldnt even count out us getting at least a point against Bos. Its been a long wait but having a winning team is much more fun.
