Nothing's really "wrong" with him. He had extraordinary luck in a shortened season. It was discussed by Mirtle in the off-season and by Cam Charron in the summer, and here more recently: http://theleafsnation.com/2013/12/30/nazem-kadri-appears-to-be-struggling-should-not-be-traded
Basically the on-ice SH% he had last season was highest in the league and very likely unsustainable - which has proven correct as it's basically half that this season.
Just as a shortened season made Grabovski undervalued by many, the shortened season made Kadri overvalued. Kadri's still above average.
That's good info and surely true. But actually I'm just talking about how he looks on the ice. He's got high-end skill and too much of the time this year he looks like he's still feeling out the AHL level.
That said, he's been good on faceoffs tonight at least.
I think maybe some of it was his luck making his game look better than it was, so that when it goes the opposite direction it may look worse than it really is. In any event, the last little while is likely just a slump, still learning his way through the NHL season. He's yet to play a full 82 game NHL season.
