Islanders @ Leafs - Jan. 7th, 7:00pm - TSN, SN 590

I still think Ranger is worth a look on the PP over Franson.

To me, the more logical solution would be to put Gardiner and Rielly on the 1st and 2nd units respectively.  It gives you a guy who is good at setting up shots (Gardiner/Rielly) and a guy who can unload a big shot (Phaneuf/Franson).  The Leafs had an awesome PP when they had Kaberle-McCabe because that is a good combination.  Now they have two guys who aren't the greatest passers and they are playing the wrong side to set up quick one-timers.

Someone tell me when they took hitting out of the game?

It was a soft call, but players aren't allowed to make contact with the goalie when the puck is nowhere nearby or when they're not thrown in. It's really that cut and dry.

That was a terrible penalty against Lupul in the first place.  Poulin came completely out of the blue paint.  Why is the goalie allowed to play on the white ice and quite frankly, interfere with Lupul to draw a penalty.

Beyond that.  After the non-call led to a Islander goal, and the terrible off-side play that would have give the Leafs a 4 on 2 on the PP, the refs still owe us.

Bernier hasn't done a very good job of jumping back on that horse though.

What a response by the team.  No-show for three periods then lose to the Islanders playing back-to-backs.
