Fast forwarded through 1st 2 periods but looks like the top line is playing it's usual tough defensive style. As much as the have carried us offensively they are a liability defensively.

Outside the rush, I'd have to think their possession numbers are deplorable. It's definitely a problem.

It's Carlyle.  Every player has seen their possession numbers drop since Carlyle was hired, just like guys like Grabovski/MacArthur have seen theirs improve since leaving.

I don't doubt it. But whatever the reason, they've been pretty noticeably bad at maintaining control of the puck--certainly more than you'd expect a big production top line to be.

Really didn't play good hockey all season.  Too bad.  What now?  Phanuef, clarkson...the thought of their long term contracts is exasperating.  They just aren't doing it right.

I guess we can go over ad infinitum all the worth while free agents the Leafs can sign only to see them sign Jagr to a long term deal?

Even the teams at the bottom of the standings didn't get dominated like the Leafs did game in, game out. Watch a Calgary game, Buffalo game, even Edmonton they don't get trapped in their own zone shift after shift game after game.

Also, because there is no way I can see Reimer staying here after the way he was treated by Carlyle, the Leafs better find a good back-up goalie because I don't think Bernier's body can handle a full NHL schedule.

Guys I hope to never see again in a Leafs home uni:

1.  Phaneuf
2.  Clarkson
3.  Franson
4.  Orr

Guys I expect never to see again in a Leafs home uni:
1.  Bolland
2.  Reimer
3.  Raymond
4.  Lupul

Guys I wouldn't consider moving under any circumstances:
1. Gardiner
2. JVR
3. Bernier
4. Kessel
5. Reilley

Fair game for anyone else IMO

Was that directed at me? He just comes as a classless guy to me, and not the guy I'd be motivated to rally around. Great captains have the ability to inspire their team (see: Sundin, Mats).  I don't see Dion as a guy doing much inspiring. I see a guy who thinks it's funny to call Phil Kessel fat.

Frankly I don't think anyone could handle it with that God awful defensive "system"

The worst part is that I've become so numb to this that I no longer get upset as I used to. It's almost expected and not surprising. The team the last few years has been really hard to identify with.

I look forward to Leiweke setting his sights completely on the Leafs organization and going to town.
