Jian Ghomeshi

Not to play devil's advocate, but I've heard that plenty of times after women slept with men only to regret it in retrospect, BDSM or not. Does it really change because he's Jian Ghomeshi, philanderer at large?

I'm unclear as to what the above "that" is referring to.

That the dude is a jerk and should be avoided.

Oh. Well, I suppose in that case I'd say the operative factor here is what makes him a jerk. I've heard lots of gals describe ex's as jerks before but not because, you know, they pushed them past what they wanted to consent to physically or, in the case of that blog post, them being inappropriately handsy without any sort of consent.

This isn't, you know, complaints about him not buying flowers.

What stinks to me is that Ghomeshi's preemptive facebook post attributed the negative innuendo to a conspiracy between two women, a jilted ex and an angry journalist. However, the star spoke to four women months ago who each claimed Ghomeshi abused them. To my knowledge, Ghomeshi has not addressed the existence of these two other women.

A conspiracy of four is exponentially harder to achieve, or believe, than a conspiracy of two.

I see what you're saying, but what I'm kind of getting to the classic bad boy stereotype that still exists. I don't think it's really all that hard to believe that it was ok at the time and not ok in retrospect.

Gee, how big is OPEC?  Because that is a pretty big open conspiracy to control oil prices.

I think it's hard to believe that 4 women would all, apparently, say the same thing about him in addition to the blog post and in addition the sort of general media reaction to this I'm seeing where his creepy inappropriateness seems to be relatively well-known.

But, then again, even if it were one woman I don't personally tend to believe that disputes about consent are manufactured after the fact.

Heard Kevin Donovan on Humble&Fred show today, he said there may be women coming forward to put their names to this.

Fair point, let's go with hoax instead of conspiracy.

Also, recent reports have identified three women, not four, as it may have been incorrectly stated earlier.

It's actually 5 women - 3 from the Star report who have said he physically/verbally abused him, a 4th in the Star report who said he sexually harassed her while she was working for the CBC, and a 5th who posted online about his inappropriate/creepy conduct while they attended concert on a date together.

wow..humble and fred still exist?

Yep, they have a radio show on SiriusXM, also podcast it every day so you can listen at your leisure.  Been doing it the last 3 years now, they are WAY more raunchy then the old CFNY days since they can now swear.

Kevin Donovan interview is on the Oct 29th show where they talk about Ghomeshi.

8 women accuse former CBC host of violence, sexual abuse or harassment

?He did not ask if I was into it. It was never a question. It was shocking to me. The men I have spent time with are loving people,? said DeCoutere, who, when she is not acting on the television show, is a captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force in New Brunswick.

...

?I was completely shocked,? she said. ?He asked if I like it rough. Quite honestly I don?t remember what I said. I was so shocked.?
Though she regrets it now, she returned to a taping of the show two weeks later. He asked her to his home in Riverdale. Once there, she alleges that without consent he grabbed her hair and pulled her down to the floor. Then, she alleges, he delivered three sharp punches to the side of her head while she lay on the floor.
?I was crying. Just crying. He stood there looking at me and said, ?You should leave.? ? The woman said she called a taxi and left the home.
The CBC program As it Happens also interviewed this woman and broadcast an account of her allegations Wednesday.

One woman has decided to come out non-anonymously:

I think Big Ears Teddy is going to be Jian's only friend really soon.

There's a twitter account by that handle with posts from April, and it was pretty clear set up by a women Ghomeshi had physically abuse. In fact, one of the first couple tweets calls him out just for that. Apparently, he was very well known in the media for being inappropriate with women - though, I imagine the physical/sexual abuse stuff was something that only those who experienced were aware of.

Yeah that account is....just wow.

Thought Jian Ghomeshi looked like a respectable guy.  If these allegations prove true, then, I as a female, will have lost all respect for him.

Better not be true.  Shame on you, Ghomeshi!

After reading the star story, it seems to me he should be more concerned with potential criminal charges than getting his job back.

Thing is you never really know somebody unless you KNOW them.  Celebrities can show any persona they want on air.  My sister loved the show Q and thought Ghomeshi was this sensitive, caring, patient and intelligent guy because he did great interviews.  I'm sure many people thought this way because that's how he was on air.  If these allegations are true, what a scumbag.

If any of this is true, I am in the same boat as you.
