That is a very good return for Winnipeg.  Nice shot to the system in rebuilding/revamping the team with the amount of players looking to get out.

It's good if Vilardi and Kupari want to stick around full time. Both are RFAs. Minus that, it's a good deal for the Jets.

I think it's a good trade for both teams. Clearly LA feels like they can reload with what they have and got the best player in the deal, and they probably think there's more in the tank from PLD, although I do think he's overrated. WPG gets some nice pieces but nothing crazy.

If Vilardi can take the next step in his development, it?s a great deal. If not, it?s still a good deal, but a pretty run of the mill good deal.

boo, jacking up the price on Nylander

Actually, I'd say it does the opposite.

How does $8.5m per for a 60 point forward do the opposite?

I don't necessarily agree that it is a bad contract for Nylander's camp but Dubois, in addition to the 63 points in 73 games, does have the youth, size and position that NHL teams tend to value very highly.

Okay. Still not sure how it does the opposite of raising the price for a 30+ goal, point a game winger who isn?t much older.

Like I said, I don't think this is a bad contract for Nylander's purposes either but considering there's more paying for potential with Dubois(Nylander's scoring didn't blossom to PPG until he was Dubois' age) I'd hesitate to say it's a great one for him either.

I don't see how this pushes Nylander to 10, which is good imo.

I think this slightly not-exact comp pushes Nylander comfortably into the 9M+ range.

Nylander is currently at 8.76%

Dubois @ 9.7% of next-next year's projected cap hit 8.5M AAV

Other long term deals in similar performance/cap hit tier
Landeskog @ 8.59% 7.0M AAV
Forsberg @ 10.3% 8.5M AAV
Rantanen @ 11.35% 9.25M AAV
Pastrnak @ 13.46% 11.25M AAV

I'd say Nylander is easily better than Dubois, so he'd be hitting the 10-10.5% of cap range. Under an 87.5M cap, Nylander is looking at an 8.75M - 9.2M AAV.

I don't. Dubois is a center, can play a physical game, is better defensively, and apart from Nylander's last season, there's not a huge difference in output (and Dubois missed substantial time with an injury).

Quite honestly I'd take Dubois straight up for Nylander no question, and I doubt I'd be alone around the league.

Seems to bounce around a bit doesn't he???
