Honestly, Tre should probably be relieved of his duties for this move alone. (The original trade factored in). It's just the the type of asset mismanagement you can't make.

I don't know. Laughton is a good penalty killer but not much else. Maybe they were too far apart on a potential re-signing, or maybe he comes back this summer.

The big crime is what they spent to get him last year.

If you look at his production over the last year the return is fine. But we have to look at the context of what we gave up for him at the deadline last year.

Treliving has been abysmal in Toronto. I do not see a path forward for this team to rebound after this deadline. We needed higher end picks to either sacrifice draft capital to acquire guys or we needed picks to start a rebuilding process.

This deadline returned neither.

Team is fkn clueless. Give up a 1st and a prospect to acquire him. Bury him on the bloody 4th line basically all year and then let him go for a 3rd. Why wouldn't you give him a bigger role maybe build up some points and boost his value. Ridiculous.

I said this long ago. Writing was on the wall. Inept managemnt last decade really from Shanny Dubas and on down. Roster looks like crap, minor league system is crap, prospect pool thin, no drafts wow. We won't see the playoffs for a while. Tre and company should be overseas working super hard to find some guys that can actually make a difference because we have nothing absolutely nothing that's going to be of immediate help.
