Hooray for Nonis maybe not being the stupidest GM in that particular bidding war!

Nik the Trik said:I'm fine with the idea that a lot of players aren't interested in coming here. The reality is that the Leafs aren't a contender and realistically nobody who is on the FA market is going to make them one. Even if the Leafs landed the best UFA's to reasonable deals they still wouldn't be legitimate contenders so wading into the folly of the first day of free agency seems pretty pointless.
If they want to push towards another playoff berth... I think they can just as easily do that sorting through the remainder bin.

Glass is a reasonable 4th liner, I guess. He has some PK experience, so, at the very least, he'd be more useful than Orr/McLaren.

Was just on the radio in TOR. Said he expects Dave Bolland to sign a 6 or 7 year deal with the Florida Panthers, worth north of 5M a season.
Dreger reported earlier that the Leafs wouldn't go over 5 years, or 25 million
5 million are you kidding me? Not worth anywhere near that...see you have fun in Florida

Extra Skater @ExtraSkater 11h
Tanner Glass had the worst impact on his team's possession last season: http://www.extraskater.com/players/dashboard?min_gp=50&dir=reverse&sort=cf_pct_rel ?
Really? Vanek? Wasn't he on Montreal 4th line in the playoffs? No thank you. And it's easy to pass up on him, don't inquire!Bullfrog said:To me, Stastny makes the most sense. That or a defenseman. But there is no centre in the farm system that has a chance of becoming a no.1 center, except perhaps Kadri, but chances are slim on that happening. He can score, he's good on faceoffs, a good playmaker, and he'll cost only money.
However, I actually voted for Vanek. I think you have to at least talk to him. Our top four wingers are generally very good, but we need one more and I don't know how you can pass up the kind of talent he has.
Third choice would be Ehrhoff.
