Leafs had 6 more points at this point last season and 3 more points in 11-12.  Leafs are on pace for 84 points.

For some unspeakable reason, the media refuse to hit the panic button, if this was Wilson they'd have hung, drawn and quartered him by now.

He was snarky with the media, therefore they took shots whenever possible.

Even Eklund is quiet. Usually a losing streak like this is how he pays his mortgage.

It took a little longer than I thought, but a few teams are now dangerously close to passing us.

Philly is 3 points back with 2 games in hand.
Ottawa is 3 points back with 1 game in hand.
Rangers are 4 points back with 2 games in hand.

One of those Metro teams could pass Carolina first and they are just 2 points behind the Leafs with 2 games in hand as well.

OK it's a shootout but it's still green baby.  What are the odds of not seeing anymore red in the rest of this chunk?  I'm tired of red.

I know it breaks up the pace of the 10-game schedule, but the Leafs are in the midst of a pretty easy stretch of 10 games.

Detroit, NYR, Buffalo, Carolina, Detroit, NYR, NYI, Carolina, Washington, New Jersey

10 games against Eastern Conference opponents that are close to the Leafs in the standings.  The only game that likely won't matter out of that stretch is the Washington game as they are likely to make one of the top 3 playoff spots in Atlantic division so the other 9 are against teams that have a real chance of passing/eliminating the Leafs from the post-season.

So far, not so good.

2-5-2 so far.  Man this is brutal.  I guess a positive guy would say "POINTS IN LAST 3 STRAIGHT!".  I'm not that guy.

Its all on how you slant it. I mean if they would have won the last two shoot outs, they'd be on a 3 game winning streak, and fans would be pretty upbeat right now.

Only the fans that focus on result rather than performance. It's not like they played particularly well in those games, so, a lot of us would still be pretty down on the team - there'd just be a little less gloom to go with the doom.

Watching the games has been miserable.  They have only played about 5 complete games so far, and I am pretty thankful that they are still in the hunt.  If it wasn't for the goaltending that first month Tank nation would be in full force.  Its hard to be optimistic that the team play is going to improve as nothing has changed much since the drop off in goaltending and the loss of Bolland.  I find it hard to believe that Bolland made that much of a difference?????? The optimist says they will turn it around, they really can't play much worse...

Results > performance, Pretty upbeat > less doom and gloom. Its all really trivial at this point. 2 straight wins and this team will be back in the good books for most fans I'd imagine.

EDIT: A win from the outdoor classic would help warm the cockles of our hearts and keep the spirit alive for a little longer  ;D (at least until we get Bozak and Bolland from the sickbay)

Looks like the next 10 is a pretty easy slate of games.  Million dollar question:  Will they look any better than they have for the last 20?

I haven't given up hope they will make the playoffs just yet. These next block of games should be the real test of worthiness for this team. If they can't pull off a .600 (or better) record in their next 10, than my hopes for a P.O. berth will be quickly, and decidedly dashed.
