Leafs 2013/2014 Schedule in 10 game chunks

Randy has only coached 3 half seasons so far and has made the playoffs once.  I don't remember Wilson getting it so bad as a coach until the very end.  Which is surprising because Wilson sucked big time.

Oh Wilson got it bad, and way before the end.

Carlyle gets a lot of flak because the team plays technically awful under him. He made the playoffs because Reimer has a .924 save % last year and is in the playoffs this year because Bernier is at .926. It is literally as simple as that. Wilson and Maurice had, at the best of times, .900 goaltending.

I really don't care how you enjoy the games. I just wish more fans would spend their efforts accentuating the positives rather than dwelling on the weaknesses. I understood this more when the team sucked. Now...not so much.

I'm sorry that some of us simply can't ignore some of the glaringly obvious facts about this team and what they likely mean in terms of real success. Their record is wonderful and all, but, having watched almost every minute they've played this season, I also know that it's really deceptive and not at all indicative of how they've played. That's what I'm upset with. This team is not as good as their record, and, until they are, I won't be satisfied with that record. I want a team that looks like it's actually going somewhere, not a team where everything about their on-ice play tells me that it's just a matter of time until the bubble bursts.

I just have to throw my two cents in on this one. I too have watched all the games, and I disagree with you somewhat. They are better then they are playing talent wise, and its only going to get better(I can see no bubble bursting) this team is solid as long as the forwards come to play, the defence end of things. Bolands return will be like a big trade. all I worry about is not the bottom six but the bottom three, and franson tends to worry me in a defensive roll. all and all this team will see the second round.

And Andrew Raycroft had 37 wins.  You cannot just isolate one stat and claim that is the reason a team made the playoffs or not.  This is a team game.  It took every one on the team limiting shoots to the outside and getting rebounds to help with those numbers.

Except that Randy's system doesn't actually limit shots to the outside.

so at the olympic break our playoff matchup would be...Boston.

thats why 2nd or 3rd is important...way rather play montreal or tampa.

It's a beautiful thing.

The week of March 10th is going to be a week of serious sleep deprivation for those of us based in Europe :o

Welcome back chunk nation!  We have 3 games to play before the trade deadline.  Up first, the Tavares-less Islanders!

Looks like sat could be a big four pointer. am looking forward to it. lets hope Price has a hangover game.

Price and Subban will still have jetlag which is good, but so will Kessel and JVR.  Hopefully the rest of the team picks up the slack.

By Saturday they will be well over the jet lag... both teams/players.

Not so sure about that.  9 hour time difference isn't something you just get over in a few days.  They've only arrived back to North America today I believe.

As someone who used to travel for work a lot, it doesn't take that long to adjust.

edit: and it's also a lot easier on the body to travel west than east.

Yeah but you didn't have to play professional hockey!  Plus I'm banking on the tons of interviews with Price/Subban about the gold medal, late nights out etc.  ;)

Yeah. They're gaining time coming back, not losing it. Getting back to normal from that is pretty easy. Just involves staying up longer than you feel you should for a few days. I've done it from a 7 hour time difference a number of times, and, usually, it takes at most 2 days before I'm pretty much back to normal.
