In those constant commercials where they're bragging how fast they start your insurance claim - what's the relevance? Isn't it far more impressive to note how fast a company actually pays out a claim?

I think the point of it is when these supposed catastrophes are occurring. Late at night, on a Saturday, etc.
McGarnagle said:Hmm. All that seems to be relevant is when the guy hits the stopwatch after the call center says "the claim is started". To me, that doesn't really equate to any practical help or resolution - basically says "we've opened a file with your name on it".

After about 30 minutes on the new site, I've managed to find out that Patrick Kane is leading the league in scoring.

That sounds like fancy talk. Have you found anything else to back up that claim, mister?

In other ads, they also point out how they've already called a plumber/tow truck/etc., regardless of the time of day.

I suppose there's an implication that the sooner the claim is started the sooner you receive something in the way of resolution but this is where we've exhausted my knowledge of the insurance industry.

One the upside, you're claim is likely to be denied that much sooner.

McGarnagle said:A collapse in the 3rd against the Bruins with Reimer in net? Has this ever happened?
CarltonTheBear said:What bugs me about those commercials is that when the guy stops the timer he says that that is when the claim started, but it's not. That's just when the guy found out the claim started. That's hardly relevant information.
