Well that's not a penalty.

If they think that's a penalty, they must be... trippin'.

TSN now doing extensive analysis on whether that's a trip or not. No comment on the Matthews one.

No, there was. McLennen said he didn't think it was a trip.

I don't doubt you're right, but when it's a really silly one that has been embraced by the player, why would we?

From the Ministry of Overthinking? Because it's not really a nickname. It's just taking the sort of standard hockey thing of, you know, calling Matthews "Matty" or Bozak "Bozer" or something but in this case the first syllable of his name is that of a relatively funny farm animal.

Ahh my bad. Stepped out for like 20 seconds must have happened then.

Also thanks I was wondering who was doing colour. Couldn't place McLennan's voice, but I like the job that he's doing.

In real time I thought Matthews still had the puck behind the net when it went in. That was an unreal setup.

Matthews heard your comments about him being a pure scoring centre and that he's not as flashy as Marner or Laine.

So Ben Smith was the only thing standing between this team and greatness. Who'd have guessed?

Babcock has adjusted to really minimize his use of the fourth line, i.e. more minutes for Matthews, Brown, Hyman, Kadri, Nylander, Marner, JvR, Bozak, Komarov, which usually means more effective use of ice time.

Martin hasn't played over 8 minutes since December 10. Smith, in that timeframe until his injury, was hovering at ~10-12 minutes, the difference being PK time.

With Gauthier, Soshnikov actually has someone else to pass the puck to that can hold on to it. There were some good shifts in the outdoor game where they pinned the other 4th line.

It's all the more reason that signing Martin at all was baffling, let along giving him 3 years.
