Even the teams that are low in SF/SA tend to outshoot the Leafs badly too.

It's almost mind boggling. I get that they don't have great defensive talent on the roster, but, they're not this bad.

It's Carlyle.  Someone on Twitter was talking about it, and Mirtle discussed it earlier in the season - their Corsi % was about league average or close to it before Carlyle was hired, and since he's been hired the CF% for every player has gone down.  You could see it in Anaheim too - was around 50% when they had Pronger/Niedermayer, when Pronger was gone it went down a bit, then when Niedermayer was gone it went down even more.  Players like Grabovski/MacArthur etc have seen their's increase after leaving the Leafs.

Since it's basically just measuring chances that's a good indication of where the issue lies.  It's systemic.

Luckily Caps D is bad too and they regularly let teams come back in games. This isn't over yet.

Really does this surprise anyone? Been like this all year. Someone just posted team not giving Reimer much help. It's been like that all year and nothing's been addressed. Almost like Nonis and Carlyle have blinders on or their both imbeciles. Just don't understand how personnel or system hasn't changed. Looking at the AHL stats and the Marlies look like one of the better defensive teams. Bring some of those guys up or replace Carlyle and his system. Utterly frustrating watching this team get outplayed and badly on most nights. But hey we are in the playoffs all is well. The boys at MLSE needed to wake up a long time ago.

Remember post concussion Reimer?

This looks eerily similar.

The goods news is that if past history is any indication, he'll find his game in about 6 months.

Why isn't Holland in the lineup?

He had a flu a little while ago, but, I don't think that's an issue any more. I think Carlyle just wanted to go with 7 defencemen - partly because that's what he's been doing of late and partly because Phaneuf is suffering/recovering from the flu himself.

I like Kulemin at C, but at the expense of Clarkson moving up to play with Kadri instead of Kulemin it's not worth it.

Unless the Leafs start being able to actually get the puck in the Washington end at some point, the Caps D isn't going to be a factor.

I agree. If he's healthy enough to play, I would have put Holland in over Ashton.

Still, I think you would agree that he should be in over Ashton.
