Clarkson's lack of a passing game was a huge complaint Devils fans had about him too. So get used to it.

Yet another reason that Clarke Mac was a much, much better option.

For me it's not even close. I'd like Clarkson for 3rd line money.

Seeing as MacArthur basically admitted he quit on the team in the playoffs, thanks but no thanks.

No he didn't. Plus he scores a couple big playoff goals after that which sort of disproves that.

That's not what he said.  He quit on Carlyle because he got benched for Orr/McLaren with no explanation from Carlyle.  He said he knew he was done in Toronto at that point because he wasn't in the plans for the roster and that he was going to be playing somewhere else the next year.  He made those comments after the season.  He didn't "quit" on the team.  Carlyle did his usual play crappy players over good ones lineup decision.

Carlyle's not getting fired anytime soon.  It's the end of November and they are still in a playoff position.

What about when we're in the middle of December and out of one?

You're bang on. We'll be out of one by then.

Look, I'm no apologist for RC, never liked him much at all, but the decider here is Nonis, who, for whatever reason, decided to go along with remaking the team according to Carlyle's specs in the offseason.  As long as they don't plummet to the very bottom of the conference I don't see Nonis essentially admitting that he blew it with all his off-season moves by firing Carlyle.

Respectfully disagree

In all seriousness, if we get blown out this game and head into the death stretch here, and continue to get out-shot and lose most of the next games will that cause any thoughts of RC firing or this this just not happening? I don't read the TO media or listen to the radio.

McFate we usually agree on most things but I see things differently here. We have been getting some points but the play has been shady all year but last few games have been atrocious. I understand we have some injuries but not like we were outplaying everybody when we had a full lineup. I know we are in a playoff spot but the next 2 weeks the schedule is tough and I can see us tumbling. If Nonis is smart he'll do something sooner than later and hopefully turn things around. Like I stated last night it's either a trade or Carlyle needs to go to shake things up. If Nonis can't pull a deal then RC will be gone. Time will tell but personally don't see the team turning it around so 1 of the 2 are going to happen.

Yeah, he decided that he wasn't returning to the team when his contract expired. He didn't decide that he was going to stop trying while he still was a member of the club.

Do you really think that'll do it?

What was the 18-wheeler going off the cliff stretch? Something like 1-8-1? Well right now we're 1-3-1. Could be 1-4-1 after tonight. And then we go into one of the toughest stretches of the season.

So if that stretch goes poorly we could be looking at an absolutely horrific month and a half of hockey. It might get Carlyle fired, it might not.

We're 1-3-1?  Isn't it 1-2-2?

Anyway, more to the point of your post, it will take a gigantic drop to get Nonis to pull the trigger IMO.

That is a good point. Every move Nonis made this offseason was because of Carlyle. Firing him would obviously look poorly on him too.

So let's hope Leiweke fires them both.

Gallagher runs over Bernier.  No call.  Just so we're clear.
Don't touch the goalie = penalty/waive off a goal.
Shoot the goalie into the net/run him over = goal/no penalty

Nonis did say after the signings that "this was now Carlyle's team" so that should mean if RC can't produce....

How come the play was not stopped once Gallagher entered the blue zone and gave few slashes with his stick to Bernier??????????
