McElhinney has no anticipation to his reads, only reactions. And his reactions are to aggressively get out of position.

So, what's your drift here, sir?  Pickard?

Stanley Cup favourites.  ::)

You know, what this rough patch tells me that now more than ever in a tough parity league you can't afford to have a single roster spot going to somebody who is less talented than an alternative.  While tonight's fiasco is not their fault, even so Martin and Polak be damned.

I agree with that.  Not Martin or Polak's fault directly.  Not so much what they did or didn't do, as much as what in general they bring to the team, which on the ice is nothing.

Martin should not be playing.

Polak should never have been signed.

JVR should have been traded in the summer, or exposed in the expansion draft and Leipsic protected in stead.

MacBackup is awful, and should have never been signed.

Carrick sitting is mind boggling.

Leivo situation is bonkers.

Bozak is another issue, which I didn't think would be one, but he in general sucks this year.

Hang on to him until either a solid backup trade opens up, or a back to back game looms on the horizon and waive him and call up Pickard (still waiver-exempt for 30 roster days), so Sparkard can get their minutes.

Sparks is probably the best goalie in the AHL right now, so they might just ride that and build up his confidence and see how his body handles the workload. He had so many injuries last season whenever he got hot.

Hmmm forget Sparks.  If McElhinney really isn't going to cut it they need to trade for somebody.

Matthews deep in his own zone trying to make an outlet and both his linemates are over the red line close to the offensive zone.

Far too predictable.

Tin foil hat time, LA has tanked the ice surface tonight to slow the Leafs down.

Polak with the great penalty and 4-0.

Aaaand that was awful by Curtis M.

Somebody needs to award me a certificate for sticking with this and enduring the fawning Fox announcers.

And McElhinney with the automatic rebound on every save that kept this play alive longer than it should have.

Zaitsev looked tired on that PK. I think that effected his decision making. Good thing the guy who was supposed to relieve him of some minutes there was in the box.

McBackup might be playing his last game as a Leaf.

Babs gave Enroth 6 games, and I think McBackup will get a longer leash. The fact that the Leafs aren't helping him a ton defensively will probably save him too.
