Credit where's it due there -- beautiful save.
you beat me to it.  i have to eat crow a little bit and admit that he has made some good saves since the start

It's hard to overstate how much better they are getting out of the zone than in the last [forever] seasons.

Phaneuf stands still so much, it is so annoying, I'd give his mobility a pass in years gone by because he was often playing so much I figured it was just tiredness.

This season though with reduced ice time and shift length, it's really apparent that he doesn't move very well anymore.

Cox says that Joni Pitkanen is looking to make a NHL comeback? Awesome. Don't know why, but I was always a big fan of his.

When he first broke in I thought he was going to become a really dominant number one guy, he seemed to have so many tools to his game, if a little raw. He never quite put it all together, but still became a really good 2-4 guy.

I think you're overstating Babcock's willingness to lose.

Should Bernier continue to put them behind the eight ball on most starts, I think Babcock will run with Reimer more often than not.

I don't think Babcock minds losing as much as people think. If he did, he would never have signed on to coach the Leafs. He's here because he's on board with the rebuilding program. As long as the team is putting in a solid effort, I think he'll be satisfied.

So, do you not bother listening to the guy talk or do you think he's flat out lying?

I ask because he's said literally the exact opposite of what you have, multiple times.

He's also said things like "there will be pain" when asked about how the team is going to perform over the next few seasons. He knows exactly what he's gotten into. I'm not saying he doesn't hate losing - obviously he does - just not to the point where he's going to abandon the plan. Really, if he hated losing as much as people say, why would he have chosen Toronto ahead of anyone else? He knew well before he signed there's be a lot more losing than winning for the next few years. If he hated losing so much, he wouldn't be here.

Actions speak louder than words, and signing to coach the Leafs is a pretty loud action that says he doesn't hate losing to the point that people make it seem like he does.

Yes, but you're claiming he'll run with a subpar Bernier to embrace the losing essentially.

As much as he understand that there will be pain, he will do everything in his power to make this a winning team as long as the process is correct.

It's becoming apparent that Reimer might be a better option in that regard.

I'm saying Bernier is still going to get a lot of starts, because, well, what history has shown is that Reimer will have his struggles, too. He's not just going to abandon Bernier. He's going to give him every opportunity to get things right - especially since Bernier will be a Leaf next season and Reimer likely won't be.

Bernier was the best Leaf last two periods.  Keeping Crosby and Kessel off the boards is a moral victory.

No, you disputed the fact that if Bernier continues to have poor starts, Babcock will lean more on Reimer, because as you put it, he is fine with losing.

Don't change your tune now.

Definitely in the third.

I thought the Leafs had a pretty good 2nd as a whole though.
