No, you disputed the fact that if Bernier continues to have poor starts, Babcock will lean more on Reimer, because as you put it, he is fine with losing.

Don't change your tune now.

You asked how many times the team would let Bernier start if he kept having bad starts. I said "many." Then you went off about Babcock hating losing. At no point did I say he was fine with losing. I said he doesn't hate losing as much as people him out to. There's a extremely wide gulf between the two. I'd appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth, thanks.

EDIT:

Also, I know it's a small sample size and all, but Reimer hasn't exactly shown Babcock he's a better option when games have mattered.

markhmasters: State of Leafs crease
Jonathan Bernier 0-3-0, .900, 3.09
James Reimer 1-0-1, .890, 2.91

IMO He stinks

If Bernier didn't give up a softie on the first shot of the game as often a he did, he would be more reliable. Too often he does this, and then is solid the rest of the game. If he can correct that he can be a good goalie in this league with a proper team in front of him.

I've always liked Reimer and feel Reimer is better suited for the team that will be assembled one day, hopefully they don't let Reimer walk or trade him.

Sorry but I honestly don't believe that either goalie is going to be with the Leafs long term unless it's as a backup. The Leafs are not going to be a contender with either one as the starter, I just don't see it.

That was a good loss to have, we need that extra 1st rounder on the Kessel Trade, so Pens must get into playoffs...

Besides Bernier bad start, the team played decently, several chances on the PK, held Crosby and Kessel off, not a bad game.

Plus we need all the Ls we can get, right ?

I think a game like this was interesting because, to some extent, it did poke some holes in the idea that an early goal, even a not great one, really demoralizes a team. The Leafs played a pretty good game afterwards and definitely got their chances. So ultimately I don't know that it really matters when goals get let in, it really is just about the frequency with which they're let in.

Anyways, maybe it's just me but I'm not overly inclined to look at the game Bernier had less favourably than if he'd spaced out the goals a little further apart and if you took out the one he should have had and replaced it with Pittsburgh scoring on one of the really good stops he made.
