1) of course that?s the questions

Right, but it's never framed that way. Because "If they give Nylander what he wants, there'll be less money for Ron Hainsey" doesn't play very well. But realistically there's not going to be a huge difference in what's available to the Leafs if they sign their guys at 43 or 38 million. It's the difference between a couple low end depth guys or one medium depth guy and prospects/minimum salary guys who'll need to play at a high level. It's not the difference between competing or not, it's not being able to win or not. It's making Dubas' job a little easier or not and clearly Nylander has no interest in making Dubas' job much easier.

Right now, they're arguing about what "reasonable" constitutes. That's it. What happens in these games isn't really going to change that.

I know he scored the previous game, but because he has no confidence in his puck handling (with good reason), Ron Hainsey takes too many shots. Same issue with Roman Polak last season(s).

It?s not a hard or fast shot and it often gets blocked or misses any tips and is basically a turnover after the forwards do the hard work of going down to the goal line and then low to high.

How do you explain that laser the other nite hmmmmm?

You mean the one that he aimed for the middle of the net and got tipped five hole by a random stick?

That's not how he remembers it.  And I stand with Ronald U. Hainsey.

Of course it does. If you over pay Nylander it effects how much you can realistically pay Matthews and Marner and fill a deep roster.

Nylander has to come in at a reasonable price or it isn?t worth keeping him.

Well I mean you said it yourself, let's just say the Leafs cave and give Nylander $8mil... that doesn't mean that Matthews and Marner aren't also going to get paid. It's the middle/lower portion of the line-up where budget cuts will need to be made. So Nylander not taking a discount does matter to the roster, but it just doesn't matter to Matthews and Marner.

Yes.  I should have been more clear.  I?m equally concerned with paying both plus having depth. I?ll leave the rest for the proper thread.

Matthews is still awesome.

Like obviously it was going to be Hainsey taking a penalty for not being fast enough.

But like I said before, more Dermott (and now Marincin) on PK.

Fair enough.  Thanks for the perspective.

I?m not sure how you call that over the line especially after calling it no goal on the ice.

The ref was at the corner when the shot went through the far side of Andersen.

How do you call that a goal?  Nothing they showed had the puck over the line.  The leafs will never get the benefit of a review.
