Leafs Roster Appears to Be Set

I don't have a clue why Gardiner would be shopped. He might well turn out to be Kaberle in his prime, given the chance. I don't know how you get enough value in return given that we're pretty much in win now mode.

Not only do I not understand why we'd shop (much less trade) Gardiner, I also don't get why we aren't just playing him and Franson together, so they get a chance to rekindle that playoff chemistry.  The bottom pair can be Ranger/Rielly for now, then Ranger/Fraser.

Long-term, I could see Rielly-Phaneuf as the top pair, then Franson-Gardiner, and then any number of options (Percy-Ranger? Ranger-MacWilliam? Gunnar-Granberg?) after that. So why not start solidifying that 2nd unit rapport right away?

Also Kulemin is on LTIR, so he misses at least ten games from whenever his last game was.

Gives them some more flexibility in carrying more bodies.

Josh Leivo, David Broll and TJ Brennan have been recalled from the Marlies.  Jamie Devane and Trevor Smith have been sent back down.

Holy crap it's like Nonis read my post.

I'm pretty excited to see Broll play, although there's a chance he doesn't dress. While I don't think he'll be anything more than a 4th liner, I think he can develop into a pretty darn good one. It'll also be fun to add to the list of players we have in the system who are more deserving of ice-time than Orr and McLaren.

Leivo's also an intriguing prospect who should have probably got the call over Abbott, but I wouldn't expect too much out of him this time around.

Lines from practice this morning:

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Raymond-Bolland-Leivo
Ashton-Kadri-Bodie
Broll-McClement-Orr

No Lupul. PANIC! EVERYBODY PANIC!

Yeah, I'm sure it's maintenance. He took an awkward hit last night and continued to play, so it must not be serious, unless he didn't know how bad it was until this morning.

jonasTSN1050: As others have noted, Lupul collided with P.A. Parenteau last night (left knee), appearing ginger afterward.

Yay.

mirtle: Lupul hurt by hit last night. Bruised leg. Nothing serious. Day-to-day. May miss tomorrow's game.

Season over. :P

Lupul is like a porcelain doll sometimes.

Carlyle just told Gunnarsson to "get bigger feet" when a puck squeezed past him on the boards. The Swede looked perplexed.

I know we've been hit hard by Kuli now potentially Lupul as well as the Clarkson suspension, but that lineup stinks. 3 guys in the top 9 that IMO have no business seeing NHL games.

If this team has any hopes of playoffs (and a somewhat deep run), depth will be key, and atm it's just not there.
