But Dermott's hit was a penalty.

My issue with it is it just seemed like the Minnesota player tried to skate through Dermott.

Anyway I kind of get why it was called. Just sucked it happened almost immediately after the Dermott non call.

I honestly don?t understand why hits like that are called penalties.  Guys get held upon dump ins at the blue line like that all the time and are never called.  Because this hit is In the neutral zone in open ice it gets called.  It?s not late and it?s a play trying to separate the player from the puck.

Imagine if Marner had a shot like Matthews or Nylander, if he was more of a threat to shoot defences wouldn't know what to do.

He needs to build up that wrist strength first and then go work with Matthews lol.

Just so we are clear.  Dermott gets hit from behind.  Gets called for a penalty and after the goal the concussion spotter makers him go off.  If we are going to make guys sit retroactively maybe we can start making the refs call things retroactively too when guys are potentially injured on illegal hits

I criticized him for that a few games ago and then he popped a couple.

But it's true, if he had any kind of decent shot at all he'd drive the other team nuts.

Dermott was mad about the noncall, the refs knew it, and then they called him on, as you said, a play that happens a lot. I can see why guys get pissed at the refs and let them know it, but it never helps.

I?m enjoying Minnesota?s constant stick work

Minnesota might play the worst style of game in the NHL.  Awful.  Leafs fighting through it though, no help from the refs.

Yep, he's already elite, he would be absolutely scary if he had a better shot.

Spezza is really good at gaining entry to the offensive zone on the 2U.  He just barrels up the middle and usually it works.

He might be the slowest best skater in the league.

Doesn't look like it to me.  Mind you, I remember Jason Allison's glory days with the Leafs so that's my point of reference.
Jason Allison skated like his skates where in cement pots

I seem to remember a penalty shot he took and it looked like the tv was showing a slow motion replay and not the actual penalty shot.

He still put up the points though.
