Booming shots from the point on the PP. Slap shots, in general, quite frankly, are extremely rare now. The role of the point man on the modern PP setup is to distribute the puck and get shots through for deflections and rebounds - things Rielly is very very good at. The booming point shot? Outside of a handful of guys in the league, basically no longer exists.

They still exist. Point I've made about Reilly is it's one thing teams aren't worried about. Another element that would only help the PP. There are guys in the league that can still shoot it. Reilly has no shot. Maybe watch some Oiler games. I can probably say a lot of Bouchard's goals are attributed to his shot. Reilly has a weak shot plain and simple. Bouchard wrist shot is probably better than Morgans slapper.

Yup. Not many teams bomb from the point. Makar, Hughes just try to get it through.

Slap shots take too long to set up. It?s all about quick releases and east west movement now. Give the goalies time to set up and they?re going to stop that shot, if it even gets through with all the traffic in front.

I think what some are failing to recognize is players like the above have far superior shots from the point compared to Morgan. It's a weakness.

And yet, the Leafs have still managed to have an elite power play for many years before this one with Rielly manning the point. It?s not the weakness you want it to be.

Also, hard for me to see how a dman who has scored 20 goals in a season has as weak a shot as you make it out to be.

Holy F. Reason their PP is good is because you have 4 elite players on the ice with him. Their PP was great when he was suspended with Lilly. All I'm saying is it could be even better with a PP QB that had a shot. Keeps teams guessing. Morgan dishes off quite a bit and I think part of that is due to him not having a great shot.

I know people are hating on Timmins but you can't become a D in this league playing spot duty 24 games in a year

He's not good. Our D needs an almost complete overhaul. Reilly, Lilly, McCabe and Benoit as a 6-7 rest can disappear.
