Oh good... I'm not pulling it out yet but I've constructing a colossal "told you so" for the collective since about July the second.

I'm pretty sure everyone knew he was an injury risk.
Saint Nik said:I think this is one of those situations where the team's lack of transparency may be working against their interests. I understand the theoretically protective aim of only classifying an injury as an "upper body" injury but I think they have an interest in telling people if Connolly's legitimately hurt.
Erndog said:A tweet today said Burke admits injury is worse then they initially expected. We know it's his shoulder. And we know he was skating, passing and shooting but not taking contact.
So I think it's safe to say it's been dinged pretty good but probably no structural damage.

But it's what then? A bruise? A sprain?
Erndog said:I agree.
If it's bad enough for him to miss 3-4 weeks while practicing on it, but not bad enough for surgery then what the heck could it be?

Well, the first thing that jumps to mind there is a separated shoulder. That can hurt but there are, if I remember correctly, three grades of shoulder separations and only the most severe requires surgery.
But that's a perfect example of where it'd be smart to tell people what it is.
RedLeaf said:Too bad really. Connolly & Franson havent really endeared themselves very well to Leafs nation, and neither one has even stepped on the ice for a regular season game yet. Liles appears to be a good off season pick-up

What's Connolly done though? All we know is that he's hurt. There's speculation about the seriousness of the injury but that's not Connolly's fault. It's not like he decides what we get told.
RedLeaf said:Thats just it. What's Franson done for that matter? Complained a bit that he hasnt had a chance to play yet? Hopefully these 2 players will be a big part of this teams success this season, but the vultures are circling already, and they havent even played their 1st game as Leafs. It's all Pretty amusing really.

There was no draft pick cost for the Leafs on this one. The only thing the Leafs sent to Anaheim was Beauchemin. The conditional pick in this trade is coming to the Leafs as either a 4th round pick or a 6th round pick.

Burkie looks ahead of the game on the trade front - quite handily. We've discussed each one of these deals to death but when I look at that list, it's not a bad one (though a few of his deals are not on it and the jury is still out on a few of these guys).

Yeah, I only listed info surrounding current roster players, didn't include Colborne or incoming draft picks but on balance I think that list gets better with them, Versteeg etc. even with a few question marks.

Also, I don't think Burke did the Grabo trade. That was Fletcher.
