Has there actually been speculation that they want Crouse? I just haven't heard anything like that before.

Not from anyone who I'd put any stock into. Healy said something about it, but, I mean, it's Healy.

As a staunch Habs supporter, Healy's probably just pumping his tires, hoping the Leafs will take him.

I can't see them skipping Marner for these reasons. First, he's a heck of a lot better than Leipsic and Brown. Second, while it's great to see what those guys are doing at the AHL level at their ages, they're still not locks to be impact top line players, or even impact top-6 players. The Leafs are at a stage where they desperately need high-level prospects. If they already had another Nylander in the system then maybe I could see them taking Crouse, but not at this point.

Yeah, I didn't mean to suggest the Leafs would be smart to pass on Marner. Just that I could understand why that organizational perception might lead them to make Crouse the prospect they wanted to have the best handle on and, as a result, that fuels speculation that they're more interested in him than they are.

Given the backgrounds of Hunter and Dubas, and with the Oilers drafting first (which means they probably won't be the ones taking Hannifin), if Strome is gone by the time the Leafs draft, do you think they would lean towards an OHL player as opposed to taking Hannifin?

I think both Hunter and Dubas are smart enough to not be that tunnel visioned when it comes to feeder leagues.

I'd hope so as well.  Just a thought I had given their background.

I'd say that there's a decent chance the Leafs draft goes a little more OHL-centric after say the 2nd round, but the earlier picks won't be effected by that.

I think the lower picks will be more European in hopes of hitting a home run!  I guess we'll see on June 26th.

With Dubas and Hunter fresh out of the OHL?

Our European scouts say Hi.  They are:  Thommie Bergman, Peter Ihnacak, Nikolai Ladygin, Jari Gronstrand, and, Joe Gibbs.

I think only Ladygin (great name) and Bergman are left, the rest were slaughtered in the aftermath.

I don't think any of the European scouts were affected by the firings.  I could be wrong, however, I think the majority of the scouts fired were the pro scouts.  They were probably fired due to Clarkson signing?  Not sure.

On that last point, you may not be sure but that is a good enough reason for me ;)
