I really hope the Leafs can come to an agreement with him.

From what I've heard The Leafs were offering him a two way contract, and he said no due to the fact he wanted a one way. Is this correct?

From what I understand, they offered what the minimum was, within the time frame,  just to keep his rights. Now they have more time to try and get  a deal done.

I think they qualified him with a 2-way contract but he rejected it or something.

So it was a two-way? He definitely did reject it, but I didn't know it was a two-way contract.

Yep, and Nonis said it wasn't unexpected and something that many players do apparently.

I believe after the initial signings, it was predicted there wouldn't be much cap space left on most team.  Teams with room might now be in a great position to sign players for less.  Fraser might not be in a good position with his demands.

I still think they'll sign him to play with Holzer, unless this T.J. Brennan makes the team, he has some potential there. Either way, I think Fraser needs to be on the team.

I hope they find a way to make it happen. I feel he brings a grit that tenacity that not many Leafs have brought forth and when given the chance he's proven to be a solid part of the team

Yeah, I mean he makes his share of mistakes, but if you watched him, there is nobody on the Leafs team that is at his level of aggressiveness with clearing the front of the net, he's an animal when somebody is in front of our goalie.

He's apparently filing for salary arbitration.  Third time for him.

I feel like he is going to go from reasonable bargain to overpaid.

If that happens, my guess is he goes from having a nice looking arbitration settlement to no longer being a Toronto Maple Leaf.

The Leafs won't be able to walk away from his contract unless it's $3.5mil or more. And obviously it won't be that high. So if he does get overpaid (which a lot of folks seem to think he will be since his +/-, PIM, hits, and blocked shots stats are so high), we're either stuck with him or have to try and trade him.

Really?  The leafs have no recourse but to pay whatever the arbitrator decrees?  They have no way to get out of it given they've already made a qualifying offer?  Qualifying offer = screwed if the guy goes to arbitration and wins?  That's amazing.  Not something I realized.
