I still think they'll sign him to play with Holzer, unless this T.J. Brennan makes the team, he has some potential there. Either way, I think Fraser needs to be on the team.

I hope they find a way to make it happen. I feel he brings a grit that tenacity that not many Leafs have brought forth and when given the chance he's proven to be a solid part of the team

Yeah, I mean he makes his share of mistakes, but if you watched him, there is nobody on the Leafs team that is at his level of aggressiveness with clearing the front of the net, he's an animal when somebody is in front of our goalie.
This is why they need to sign him....He'll take care of the Lucic's of the NHL and in that final game we needed a hard ass to clear the front of the net.

I agree, I just hope his contract awarded, is cost effective. I like him, but there is a line there to pay a 6-7 defenseman.

I bet they settle before the hearing.

I'd give the guy what he wants as long as he changed his last name.

What is wrong with his last name? ???

Think of it as having Fraser on our side now !

I just want him to fight Aulie again....  :)

For his toughness, I am glad he is the 6th dman on the Leafs.

So how do they talk about him wearing #2 and he is not even signed yet? How is that determined?

He's going to arbitration, which means he can't sign with another NHL team. While it's not official, he is essentially signed.

So tsn says the Leafs have offered $855k and Fraser wants ... $2M.  "Fraser is coming off an 8-assist campaign," notes the article.  If I'm the arb I'd say to Fraser, "What exactly makes you think you're worth more than the league minimum, you run-of-the-mill, utterly replaceable fringe player?"  Good grief.

Realistically numbers submitted for salary arbitration aren't usually about actual cases being made but more about the negotiations that take place after filing. Basic negotiating would suggest you'd file for quite a ways above what you're actually looking to make.

No doubt, and even as nik says the old " he is asking for much more then he is worth " line... how about this novelty?

Maybe negotiate in good faith and with a honest appraisal of what you as a player are indeed worth in this cap world. Rather then waste people's time and efforts by asking for 2 mill when you know damn well that's insane and settling on 1 mill a season like he should be paid MAX. Not a damn cent more. He has a bunch of good qualities but he is honestly very easily replaceable. We have other much more skilled players that we need to get taken care of contract wise.

He can take his 855-1 mill a season salary or kick stones by the side of the gardiner expressway.

For some reason I don't see Fraser's agent suggesting they go straight into negotiations with a bottom line number.
