Marlies Talk

The good guys are off to an excellent start. I think the defense is going to win this series for the Marlies also. With Scrivens backing up that penalty kill and strong 5 on 5 defense, I like our chances.

One thing I would note about that 1st was that the Barons where very physical on the Marlies D, it'll be interesting to see if that starts to wear them down if they can keep up the intensity.

I know kadri got an assist on that goal ..but i haven't really liked his game tonight..he seems to be having all sorts of trouble with the puck... that being said the ice looked pretty awful to me ..though maybe it's just the awful camera work making everything appear awful..

after saying that Kadri had to go and have a much better third..Barons looked listless in the third there...i guess with the score the way it was they figured they'd save their energy for tomorrow night.

Perfect game for the Marlies though ..they needed to get at least one of these first two and now they're in the position to go for both ..

the penalty kill still manages to impress with each new team you figure someone is going to find their weakness but it hasn't happened yet.

Not the tight game I expected. The Marlies spanked the Barons on the road.

They weren't quite flawless as the 5-0 score might indicate. But they handily outchanced the Barons about 2:1 and smothered the Barons PP. Even Rosehill got a quality scoring chance in the slot (but missed)!  :)

Very impressive and encouraging start to this series. The Barons have been a pretty good team all season - the Marlies shutout a top club.

The game in six minutes for those that missed it tonight.

Thanks, WIGWAL.  Judging from the video highlights, the Marlies were skating very well, and were very opportunistic on the more than several scoring chances they had and/or created.  Scrivens was solid in stopping the Barons whenever they tried pressing for a goal/shot on net.  Both teams had plenty of rushes up ice.

I'm expecting the Barons to rev up the skating game next time.  Marlies need to keep playing as their doing and prevent the Barons from getting in too close.  A llittle defensive improvement will do.  If Oklahoma tightens up, it'll be a much closer game.

GO MARLIES!!

Scrivens was definitely tested and looked good, as always.  Gardiner's end-to-end rush looked just effortless, like he was in the wrong league, which he pretty miuch is.

And, boy, that Marles 2-on-0 in the 1st period was ridiculously offside.

Kadri is centering D'Amigo and Frattin.  Are the Leafs reconsidering moving Kadri to the wing?  Or is this just because Colborne still can't take draws because of his hand?
