McDavid Extends in Edmonton: 2 years @ 12.5M AAV (!!!!)

Knies and Jason Robertson on the left side is gonna go hard next season.

edit: Thought the other Robertson was a UFA next year, actually RFA. Still possible though.

It's well documented that McDavid gave up $8mil total on his last deal. He's giving up, what, at least another $8mil total on this deal. That's $16mil he's given up for the Oilers. If they pay that back with another Skinner-led playoff run people should go to jail.
 
Extremely movable contract on that second year if McDavid wants. Recipient team would have no issue making 12.5 fit.

Bowman immediately turning around to sign some depth schlubs at over-market rates.
 
I'm absolutely baffled they are going into the season with the same fricking goaltending tandem. What a steal of 2 years.

McDavid obviously wants to win a Cup. He's buying them a good player.

They'll probably be in on the three goalies on the waiver wire. Not sure why they wouldn't offer a low round pick to get one.
Pickard can be waived to make room. Dipietro, Daws and Stevenson are all at around $800k - less than Pickard

But I don't know why they wouldn't have done more except that none were practically available. They'll have money this upcoming summer to land a UFA if any are available.
 
Well... I am not sure what goalies they could have gotten, but it's their problem to figure out. Ulmark or Blackwood? 2026 UFA market belongs to EDM.
