McDonagh, JT Miller to Tampa Bay

Apparently, NYR really wanted Hajek.  But to walk away without either Foote or Sergachev seems to have a lot of Rangers fans upset.

That would be a big addition to the trade, but if it gets the Lightning a Cup it's instantly worth it so good on Yzerman to make that conditional.

So what would have been the Leaf comparable:

Kapanen, 1st, 2nd, Lilljegren, Bracco?

Namestnikov is more like Brown to me, not Kapanen. Less upside. Neither of those prospects are A-level prospects, even if Howden was a 1st rounder. So maybe more like Korshkov and Bracco.

Was typing almost exactly the same thing, it's incredible from Yzerman.

Well the 44 points in 64 games, and his sort of career progression left me feeling like Kapanen was going to be like him in ways.  Liljgren is better than Howden, but it's the offset of how far along Namestnikov is compared to Kapanen and that realtively unknown side of Kapanen, and Bracco and Hajek seem comparable.

Namestnikov's played a lot with Stamkos and Kucherov. He's a good 3rd liner but that's vastly inflated his point totals.

Okay, so Brown, a 1st, a 2nd, Bracco, and someone else in the 2nd tier prospect level like Korshkov.

It's early, but J.T. "throw-in" Miller has 9 points in 7 games for the Lightning so far. Namestnikov had 2 points in his first game and then just 1 in his next 6.

McDonagh was injured at the time of the trade, so he's only just recently returned and played 2 games for Tampa. In both games he was paired with Dan Girardi, because of their "chemisty" before I guess. If that keeps up then McDonagh's effectiveness won't be anywhere near where it could be.

As predicted.

JT Miller is riding shotgun on the first line, I think, so yeah, points!

His most common 5-on-5 linemates have actually been Point and Gourde, but yeah a fair share of his points have come when he's played with Stamkos and/or Kucherov too.

We're dealing with an insanely small sample size here, but when I saw it it was just too funny to not share (5-on-5 stats in McDonagh's first two games):

TOI      CF    CA    CF%
McDonagh w/ Girardi22:31142140.0
McDonagh w/o Girardi    11:1020290.9

6 out of the 9 are with Stamkos and Kucherov. It was more evenly split between the lines prior to his hatty last night vs the hapless sens.

It's his birthday today!
