Nonis using depth to go shopping....

@SNTonyAmbrogio
Burke on adding a top 6 forward: "I don't think so. I don't sense we are going to be able to do what we wanted." #sntrade

On goaltending does Burke expect to address the situation today: "I would say no"

@SNTonyAmbrogio
Brian Burke said "we haven't been able to put anything together" & "our goal is to see if we can add something we are not looking to strip."

Well, at least he saved us 3.5 hours of waiting...  :-\

Brian Burke does not expect to make a deal to address goaltending saying they have full confidence in James Reimer. #Sntrade

And none in Gus?

Makes sense.  Gus had a horrific game but "saved the season".  Reimer has been crap aside from a two game stretch.  I'd have all the confidence in him too!

From the rest of his tweets it sounds like Burke probably said that after he revealed they had turned down a deal for Reimer.  Was probably just said in the context of why they didn't trade Reimer.

Ah, that makes sense.

But why did they turn down a deal for Reimer?

mirtle: Brian Burke today: "We spent a lot of time putting some depth together in this organization and I don't intend to blow that up."

Apparently he has full confidence in him!  ;D

I get that, I guess, but I'm starting to get concerned that there is a fundamental character issue with the roster.

That thing you just heard that sounds like a giant Geiger counter was the sound of millions turning of Tradecenter.

I hear you, and there might be, but, most of the players on the roster are signed through next season, so, they can always try to move them in the summer instead, when it might be easier to find replacements instead of rushing prospects.

He has belief in this group and the depth?

Where is all this depth going to play next year?

At least ship some dead weight out the door and if he doesn't think we have any of that then he is a fool.

And, really, why should it be? Who could possibly look at this team and think changes should be made?

I'll be content if he just finds the time to give Wilson another extension.

I actually kind of look forward to seeing a bunch of people really freak out and overreact if the Leafs don't make a deal of any significance today.

For the record, I'm not calling for Burke's head or anything if we do nothing... It might actually be the smart thing to do but I do stand behind saying I'm losing interest.

It will be amusing for sure, but I am going to be disappointed that a shake up of the roster wasn't made.  You don't need to completely blow the team up, but I think playoff experience is being undervalued a bit.  Even getting your butt kicked in the 1st round still gives the younger players on the team the exposure of the playoffs, and can set them up to have a better understanding of how much harder the game is when play is clogged up and tight in all three zones and not just the neutral zone.

If there isn't a deal that makes sense, I'm not sure what he's supposed to do. Only five teams are more than six points out of a playoff spot = lots of buyers, few sellers (which is one reason a fringe team should consider being a seller - to get over payment)
