Official Ottawa Senators Thread

I enjoy a bit of Sens based schadenfreude as much as the next guy but this story is beginning to have one of those Homer receding into the bushes feels to it.

They should just do the league a favour and go for the hattrick by signing Voynov to consolidate all the bad vibes in Ottawa.

Regardless of who is behind it, it is disgusting that someone was saying those things to another person.

Agreed it's horrible and disgusting whoever is behind it BUT it's an entirely different level of disgusting if the accusations are true.  You can almost understand that on the Internet you'll always get haters and trolls from total strangers because people feel powerful when they're anonymous, but if it was actually the fiance of a TEAMMMATE, someone they have a personal connection with and talk to all the time, that's just sick.

The poster is disgusting either way but if she was that close to the situation will anyone ask about the accusation of popping pills while pregnant??

New ownership and trading Hoffman and Karlsson will likely be a result of the compilation of one season. Crazy.

Alfredsson gone and says team needs new ownership
Fan's don't go
Team tarp's seats
Owner threatens relocation
#MelnykOut billboard campaign
Ryan publicly a lame duck and dragged through the mud
Randy Lee allegations from 19 year old male
Ottawa choose to support Lee and not put him on administrative leave
Melynk's support Bill O'Reilly
Hoffman's GF's accusations

Then there's the whole... they sucked this season and finished 2nd last but dropped to 4th in the draft because of the lottery... and they'll certainly be a bottom-5 team next season as well and don't even own their 1st round pick anymore.

You wonder if they could get a 1st round pick for Duchene today.

It's fun to route against "rivals" but what's happening in Ottawa is awful. Hopefully they come out of this with a load of picks, young prospects and a new owner.

I think you could for sure, but only from a team expecting to draft in the late teens or after.

Like from a certain team that might lose out on Tavares, or Stastny, and needs a good centre, and has some cheap fill ins to send over in return that can play, and maybe get Karlsson into the deal, and find a way to afford Bobby Ryan's buyout?

Or not.

I was going to say Pittsburgh would probably love to have him, but after the Brassard trade they might be running out of expendable assets to move.

AZ would be a good destination, decent D, decent Goalie, and no real clear cut number 1 center.

Brassard+pick for Duchene

This situation is really quite shocking.  And one would think that the organization would have handled it internally a long time ago.  I find it hard to believe that this story came out to the media the way it did.  I'm sure there are a lot of disagreements between teammates out there.  But it is very rare for the feuds to become public like this.

They were talking on Overdrive how there have been wives' spats in the past (from O'Neill and McLennan's stories) but back in the day before the internet all that stuff was gossip / face to face encounters.  Some wives would feel superior to others based on their husband's standing on the team etc.  With the Internet and cyber bullying it's taken to an entirely different level.

lol sens media talking about how this never would have happened if Chris Neil was still with the team.

Is his wife an enforcer too?

Maybe Neil is a computer expert, and would have been able to track down exactly who was doing the harassing.

From what a lot of the supporters are revealing in their own comments, the Karlssons (Melinda in particular) really wanted to keep this out of the public eye, to be dealt with internally as a team (and adults) as you described, sickbeast.

Unfortunately, it crossed into criminality, and those records are public. We generally don't hear about this 'off-the-record' stuff from the beat coverage as they need to maintain relationships and access; I'm sure there is plenty around the league. This particular situation was broken by the Citizen's crime reporter.
