Upon his recovery from surgery, he is angling to reunite with Alex DeBrincat.

I had some interest in Kane but at the end of the day adding another player who both can't and won't play defence probably isn't going to help this team overall that much.

Will be interesting to see what his AAV ends up being, and of course if he can even still play hockey at a high level post-hip surgery.

The "idea" of Kane on the Leafs is probably better than the actuality.

The Red Wings have 4.3M in free cap space before signing Kane so the 2.75 really shouldn't matter.  Detroit isn't at a point where they should be mortgaging the future at the deadline so they will have space to make moves but shouldn't be looking to aquire heavy acquisitions yet.

Seems like an ok risk.  If he's terrible this isn't a make or break year for the Red Wings, and if he comes back and even only plays limited 5on5 and some powerplay time it helps their depth scoring.  Pizza money can make his contract go away.

23 points in 24 games for Kane so far.

Missed about a month after that game against the Leafs, and has 7 points in 5 games since returning.
