Penguins @ Leafs - Oct. 31th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

I don't like the hit but he pretty clearly does turn.  His skates when he dumps the puck are facing one way and then when he's hit they are facing the boards.

Doesn't mean it's not a penalty.

Anybody who doesn't think this isn't deserving of a 5-minute major doesn't understand charging or boarding. Scuderi doesn't even really turn Clune was targeting his numbers the whole way.

I still don't really get why he deserved a contract.  A handful of decent games at the AHL level shouldn't undo the fact that he's not a good hockey player.  It's a nice story that he overcame addiction and everything but the Leafs can and should be striving better than a 28 year old with a career high of 22 points in 66 AHL games.

Freeze the gif I posted right before Scuderi dumps the puck in and then "turns" (like Nik said, he stops). Scuderi's numbers are still what Clune's skating into. Clune was behind him his entire route.

What constitutes a turn isn't the position of the skates, it's where his back is in relation to the guy who hits him. Scuderi has his number to Clune throughout.

What value does Grabner bring? The pony's one trick is to jump out for quick counters on the pk, but if its not a goal or goalie stops play he doesnt get back to help defend the break the other way. wouldnt mind seeing a different goalie from reimer or bernier for a few games.

Ok Kov's was hit with a elbow directly to the back of the head  by OV not even a call. guess what this stuff happens, especially when folks skate this fast. I really don't care what you think it was a soft darn call.

I said it's still a penalty and doesn't absolve him of the hit.  But he's skating in one direction and turns, whether it's turning to stop or not he changes his position.  Clune still had time to stop I think, but I think it's wrong to also say he doesn't turn at all.  Sometimes I think that's a mitigating factor, I don't think it is this time.

If Scuderi doesn't "turn" where do you think Clune hits him? His numbers would still have been the principal point of contact, to borrow a term from the DOPS.
