Predators @ Leafs - Nov. 18th, 7:30pm - TSN, TSN 1050

I just checked the score and I actually lol'd.

This is hilarious.

The sabres did beat San Jose 4-1 so that's something.

You knew it was going to be a long night when the sound system failed during the anthems. It was pretty awesome having the crowd start singing the remainder of the American anthem when the system failed. Very classy. I enjoyed it. Highlight of the night for sure.

I promptly sold my remaining tickets for the season after the game.

Leafs give up 9 and kadri is +1? Phaneuf is even?

Anyway looks like I didn't miss much of anything.

Ditto. Glad I missed that game.  Also glad to see Randy's work on the defense after the Bruins series is starting to pay off.

Same here. Got home and laughed at the score. Then saw that Franson and Phaneuf were even and laughed some more. The reactions to their play on here is definitely not a bore.

I fell asleep at the end of the 2nd.

Which was approximately 5 and a half years after the team fell asleep

I actually saw none of the game.  I was working last night, phew.  Clearly this loss was all on Phaneuf, Franson and Kadri.

I see Kadri managed to get free of Clarkson for part of the game.  If Carlyle isn't fired I'm sure that will last a period and a half until he reverts back to these terrible lines.  It took what, half a bad game before he broke up Kadri-Kessel?

A 9-2 hammering really is the perfect opportunity to make a coaching change.

But they won't.

I wish people would stop calling the idea of firing Carlyle "knee-jerk".

er...someone really said that? As in, "The Leafs have been doing great up till now"...?

On TSN they referenced firing Carlyle as a knee jerk reaction to this loss.

I've seen that elsewhere, too, and I still don't get it.

So let's say you go to the doctor for a checkup, and he hits you in the knee with one of those weird, screwed up little hammers they have, and nothing happens. Like your leg just sits there, no reaction at all.  Your doctor is scratching his head like he's not really sure what to say, mumbles something about "Maybe try to lose some weight in your Kessel area? I don't know.."

Then like A YEAR LATER, while you're minding your own business, maybe in the middle of driving or something, BOOM!!, your knee freaks right out and smashes your shin right into whatever they call the part of the car right over the pedals there.

I'm not a doctor so I don't know, maybe that's still technically a "knee-jerk reaction" - but it doesn't change the fact that it's about a year overdue and everyone knows it.

I confess I didn't see that segment on TSN so I can't say what I'm about to with 100% certainty but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that whoever said that on TSN was not referring to people on the internet who've been hammering on the Leafs' possession numbers for the better part of Carlyle's tenure with the team. I have to assume it was more directed towards the ebb and flow that always exists with regards to coaching changes within the fanbase as a whole and, maybe, people like Brendan Shanahan who did look at this team in the off-season and decide to both bring Carlyle back and give him a contract extension.

Just ordered another crate of Valium.  I was weening myself off after the 6-1 stretch, must have been hallucinating.  Seriously I start my winter drive to Arizona on Monday and only follow the team from time to time when I am there.
Hopefully somewhere between Monday and April when I get back, they fire Randy?for some reason he is just not the guy.

So when I wished for a Nashville game to make me forget about the Buffalo game, I guess I should have been more particular about the how and why.

That's how the Monkey Paw gets you.

You know the crazy thing about this team is that they could go on a a 5 game streak and we would be saying nice things again. This team is like Jeckel & Hyde or as Forrest Gump said "The Leafs are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"
