Predators @ Leafs - Nov. 18th, 7:30pm - TSN, TSN 1050

You know the crazy thing about this team is that they could go on a a 5 game streak and we would be saying nice things again. This team is like Jeckel & Hyde or as Forrest Gump said "The Leafs are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"

They'll probably win the next 4 of 5, just so we'll get a real clear indication of what direction we should expect this team to take. ::)

Well that's the thing about these kinds of losses - they are usually the 'turning point' in a season - things will either get better or worse.

But the last 5 or so years with the Leafs has not followed this pattern, they kinda just meander through the season and finish somewhere that's not very useful to anyone.

honestly, I'm not knee jerk reacting here, but I really don't care if they blow this team up. They could trade JVR, Kadri, kessel - it wouldn't bother me at all. Clearly this core isn't right, it's easy to blame the coach, and coaches are easily replaced, but I doubt that has much long term effect on the team.

In most cases, I'd be inclined to agree, but, Carlyle's teams have been poor possession teams since well before he was let go by the Ducks. There's plenty of evidence that he's a big part of the problem. Without changing the way the team plays, changing who plays for it isn't going to help things all that much, either.

Well Carlyle has some kind of magical hold on this management team. I've given up some time ago making any sense of what happens with this team.

I don't really care if this team gets blown up or not. Realistically they don't have a shot at winning the Cup in the next 5 years anyway. I'd just like to evaluate certain players under a new coach before deciding if they have a future with the Leafs or not. Kadri and Gardiner in pariticular. I've been a fan of Jake's since he was traded here, but he's been pretty bad this season. Just looks uninterested out there. Maybe it's a confidence thing, I don't know.

Part of the reason I want Carlyle gone is because it will almost undoubtedly mean Nonis is out too. Dude's almost been here 6 years if you count his time under Burke.

I was really starting to wonder if the Leafs would again be the laughing stock of the NHL ever again especially after that 6-1-1 thing that had going. But here we are, the laughing stock of the NHL. The punch line of all things hockey. Even Edmonton doesn't get this type of comedy.

I still to this day don't understand why they got rid of Burke. The guy had a plan, he's not an idiot.

JFJ got more time to mess with this team than Burke did.

The good news is I no longer complain when my wife books me for some mundane event on a game night. I just don't care if I miss any given game, I missed last night's game and look how well that turned out.

Tea? With your mother? On Saturday night at 7pm? Just the three of us? No booze? Her three smelly cats climbing on me the whole time? And she want's me to shovel her driveway? Sure, why not? The alternative is possibly much, much worse.

My interest in the leafs has declined rapidly over the last few years.  I barely watch anymore.  At some point I might get a hockeystreams subscription just to watch some other, entertaining hockey, because I miss hockey.  I just don't care for the leafs anymore.

it's funny, that's the first thing I thought of too. Leafs next game is Thursday night vs. Tampa. I'm working. And I'm thinking YAY! I won't have to watch Stamkos score nine goals against the Leafs in two periods before the Tampa coach decides to give him the rest of the night off........

Now Kessel's gotten on board the "lets rip the fans who vent their frustration with our crappy play" bandwagon.

Anyone want a Kessel jersey?

Edit: just read Rob Ray's comments in an article related to the Kessel one. He's right. It's hell playing in Toronto. Expectations are high. People are running out of patience. Maybe we should get off their backs. Maybe we should just not pay attention to them at all. Maybe if people stopped giving a crap, they'd play better. Or maybe they'd still be the same crappy team, only nobody would care.

Throwing your jersey on the ice isn't classless OR disrespectful. It's showing you that people CARE enough about this joke of a team to flush 2 hundred dollars down the toilet after wiping their butts with the cost of a ticket because they're upset.

But really what are they afraid of? Booing? Bad media? Heck, Leafs will sell out no matter what the product is. If management has given in to pressure from the fans and media, it hasn't translated to a winning product on the ice.

All I'm saying is every new GM that comes in has a chance to clear the deck and tank for higher picks. Games will be sold out regardless.

All this complaining that fans and media are too harsh...you are playing hockey for millions of dollars ya pansies!

I wondered how the team would bounce back from the Buffalo fiasco. Now I know.

Putting my high school math to work, my future projections are that Tampa wins 12-2 and Detroit wins 15-2.

I'm dreaming of a l0-0 washout of Tampa Bay.  😴

I didn't see the game, but I'm a bit unclear about the goalie situation. Who started? I see they both have about .750 save rates.
