U wanna try and keep possession so why not throw it back in our zone. He had 2 guys behind him we would have gotten possession. He also had a split second to pass it but waited to long then had nowhere to go. I can see what he was trying to do. Then like u said caught out there probably too long and was brutal defending.

Offensive guys always try to make stuff happen so no real issue with that for me. Leafs were still in good shape and Sammy got beat by a good shot. Oh well. Good road trip and Sammy played well and so did the team.

There can't be a "get it in deep and change" mentality in 3 on 3 overtime. Puck control is your only chance of success(which they had none of last night). But you're correct, trying to force it up the wall was a poor decision on his part. A re-group for a change should have been his play in that situation. That said, if it doesn't hit Rielly jumping onto the bench, Matthews is probably off to the races. And Samsonov needs to stop 40' shots even if they are tipped on release.
