Cheering hard here for the Leafs but inside I have a slight bias for the home town Foligno's. His house is just up the lake from our cottage. Both Nick and his brother Marcus are amazing people. We saw them going down the lake on their pontoon. When my youngest daughter figured out that it was the Foligno's and Draisaitl(building a place on the land next to Nick) she insisted we hop on the sea doo and chase them down. Low and behold, there's Nick Foligno, Marcus Foligno, Mike Foligno and Leon Driasaitl. They even came to a stop and conversed with my daughter for a couple seconds. She was gitty for a week..

So yeah, Go Leafs Go....but that Foligno guy is a half decent chap.

Welp tonight's the night. It'll either be elation or heartbreak in here after the game. I can't believe how quickly I got into this no fan hockey. I watched every game yesterday

The best part was there was no idiot standing up in the 5th row waving at the camera trying to get on TV while talking to his friend on his cell phone.

I watched part of the Montreal game and most of the Flames game. After a few minutes you get into the game and don't seem to really notice the lack of fans.

I missed them in overtime of MTL/PIT, but that's about it.

I have to admit I don?t feel confident about this series. I feel Columbus will be akin to the early 2000s leafs against the senators.

I was sort of feeling the same. Especially after seeing Columbus beat the Bruins 4-1 in the exhibition game. However, regardless of their liabilities on defence , this is the most offensively gifted Leafs squad I?ve seen in my 40 years of watching. I?d still put them as the clear favourites in this match up. And, hey, regardless of the overall outcome here, the booby prize is a 1 in 8 chance of winning a lottery ticket to select Alexis Lafreniere. That?s how I?m looking at this whole qualifying round .  8)

The CoVID gift. Without the revised playoff format and draft rules, we'd be out of the top-10 and Carolina would have the Leafs' pick for sure. They'll probably still have it for this year, but if Leafs win the lottery, they get to take advantage of the top 10 protection!

He's also a really good interview. I've heard him a couple times on sportsradio stations, and it's hard not to be impressed.

I'm actively cheering for the Jackets for Lafreniere reasons, but I hope we see entertaining hockey.

Also of note is what I'm sure is the "road game" feel for every team competeing in this tournament. Staying in a hotel, no fans (cheering for you). The first round of the playoffs has always been a very loud and boistrous environment. That home-team pressure to perform is completely gone now. I'd say the advantage for skill teams to be able to go out and just do what they do is even greater.

A part of me doesn?t want them to win the cup this year.

Since it?s been so long since they?ve won it I don't want the asterisk that is sure to be associated with this season.

I like the Arkells and everything but how does Sportsnet think that song is a good idea as a pump up for the first Leafs playoff game of the bubble.  I just dont understand.

I hear you Odin.  It'll be Stanley Cuppish.

But if they are going to hand the thing out anyhow, let it be to Tavares.

I want to feel ice-sprays on my face
I see that shutout disappear without a trace
I wanna take shelter from the losing pain
Where the rinks have no game, oh oh
