Quinn Hughes traded to Minnesota

For a guy who clearly doesn't want to stay in Vancouver this isn't a terrible return. Ohgren hasn't been great so far but its basically 4 1st round picks with three of them being prospects. Zeev is a decent defenseman already. Rossi is a smaller forward with some success.

How can that be profitable for Frito-Lay?

(I would’ve been pretty jazzed by a package like this for that guy who wanted to leave but strong-armed staying out of spite)

So what you're saying is the difference between Laughton+Carlo and Quinn Hughes is just another 1st round pick.

This is what we should have done with Matthews when the writing was on the wall with the core that they weren’t going to win. That ship has now sailed and we lost Marner for basically nothing. Ugh.

First Bo Horvat, now Hughes...the Canucks have traded their captains twice now in 3 years.

Is there a leadership issue in Vancouver?

Absofuckinglutely not.

It was something that I had seen pop up. People were putting the reasoning behind it as "If you think the piece you are missing is a Norris caliber d-man then....". I think I probably would have been disappointed with it. Hughes is amazing, but the fear of him leaving in two years I think would have made me leery. You would have to win the cup in the two years to make it even remotely worthwhile.

If the contract lengths were similar, it would be more of a consideration.
